Sides! Come on guys. Two sides. Yes, that's the requirement for this one. I'm hoping I don't have to define a side. As long as it's food, okay?

Chili is made in a pot. A side of jalapeno cornbread and a Caesar salad, whatever!
 
I'm up for this one...and know what I am going to fix already although it is a traditional southern dish...
 
I'm afraid I have to agree about the sides thing. Almost all comfort foods that I make are crockpot or dutch oven kind of one-pot meals where the sides are part of the dish. I can add sides, but that's not normally how I would make them. If you says it must be so then ok. JMO.

A Caesar salad with chili and cornbread? I don't think so! :D

I wanna do somethin! It involves ham hocks. Pretty sure somebody else has got a similar plan though...

Can't wait to finally give one of these a go!
 
Pot roast done in the dutch with pots and carrots would be an easy one pot meal. Cook it all together and separate the carrots and pots when done. Or not. Add some garlic bread and side salad and done. C'mon now....this throwdown could not be any easier.

You doing bouillabaisse? Toasted french bread with garlic and parm/asiago. I'd add maybe some clams casino or oysters rock on the side of that. Parm chips would also go great. You could also add a tapanade on the side for the bread as well as a salad.
 
Yeah, I'm torn between that and Pennsylvania Dutch style Chicken Pot Pie. It's made with pasta squared instead of pie crust. I guess a salad would go with bouillabaisse.
 
I spent this weekend prepping one of my sides today. Simple stuff but cook time and labor intensive. All shall be revealed in due time.
 
I have no chance of winning...

Not going to practice....not going to prep.....not going to tweak. It's not interesting. It's not pretty, nor could it be.

However, I've made this exact plate 500 times. After all...it's a comfort food!

Surprisingly, most of the winners thought they had no chance either. THP Throwdowns wants you anyway!
 
I'm going to get THP cranky.............2 sides:rolleyes:.......The point of comfort food is so it's dead easy, all my comfort food isn't set up for sides, that's why it's "comfort" food........

Ok you can yell at me now, but had to say it.....

I have a few ideas but will have to work out the sides to match....
