OCD 2017!!!

Galapagoense Is doing good in the Aerogarden. It had one tiny root protruding the cage last week. Beautiful looking plant.

The BBG Pumkins are doing great since transplant to soil this last week. I'll keep all four of them.

The rest of the gang is pushing along. Not getting tall, but putting out leaves.

And I see you do like wilds too aka C.Galapagoense..looking so good..you should get some more of that variety :rofl:

I believe that's in the cards?

That is one of the harder ones to germinate IMO.

I really like this one. I got the seeds from Charles. It is very hard to germ. I only had two pop and this one barely survived. I don't think it would have made it if I would have put it to soil. It struggled in the aerogarden for a bit. Now it's in go mode. I will isolate and save seeds for next year. I may even try to overwinter.

Sounds like a good plan Chuck. I use soaker hoses under the plastic mulch so I don't need to worry about clogging.

Spring is coming, though time seems to drag as we get closer to it...

Overnight lows in the 20s is certainly too cold for hardening off under the hoophouse unless it's heated. Keep on like you're doing Chuck!

Hi Chuck...all is well here,my seedlings are getting there ,they are not as big as yours,they had a latish start,but I have 6 weeks before I put my tomatoes in the ground,my peppers are all container grown,so I will stick those in the GH to expediate their growth & development.

I have some new wilds that I am excited about.The weather here is suddenly wicked awesome...enjoying lots.

Glad to here everything is well. It's great that your growing wilds. Not many seed sources for some of them. That's how species fade away.

I must not of had enough, because I just started some Aji Amarillo seeds. LOL! They will stay in the aerogarden until plant out. They'll probably be bigger than the other plants by then.

Most of the plants didn't look great. I believe I had to much compost and not enough perlite. Some lower leaves were turning yellow and falling. I checked a few and sure enough, little to none root growth. I made up a new mix and replanted half of the last night after work. Will replant the other half tonight. Stupid mistake. They should revive with the new soil.

Out of curiousity... did you add any Mycos to your potting mix, or did it come already innoculated? I'm finding it makes a huge difference for me. Also, you can carry your plants pretty far in even crappy potting soil if you feed them liquid nutes. Ya gotta titrate the dose pretty carefully for little seedlings though... I've been following the General Hydroponics recommendations for their organics fairly closely, but made a few changes because I had similar nutes already on hand. https://www.monstergardens.com/charts/general_organics_feeding_chart/general_organics_feedchart.pdf

Thanks John. They really needed it. I planted them nearly a month ago. 75% of the plants had little to no new root growth. Most of them had the same shape of roots as the little cells they came out of. I'm sure it was to much compost.

I did add myco to the roots when I potted up. I believe the compost may have been toxic to them. Compost as a additive is fine, but i don't think one can grow in straight compost. Mine wasn't straight compost, but looking back at my notes, I should have added another bail of peat as well as perlite. I think that's were my trouble lays. Not enough drainage or air.

I managed to get all the plants repotted tonight. 180 of them. I'm tired. The plants I reported last night look much better today after work. Hers a pic for the archives. I'll use it as reference in a week or so.

Fantastic line up of healthy plants, and will love the new media round their feet. Lot of plants Chuck to reboot but you have it all under control. Be proud, when you plant out you will boss it. I have no doubts.

Thanks for the kind words Sim. I wasn't thrilled about repotting 180 plants., but it's better than waiting until dirt day, only to have unhealthy plants. They are in a controlled environments. I think I can get them up to par.

Your guys know it. Can't wait to get dirty. The potup sucked, but it was well worth it. They are growing everyday. Nice and healthy. They will catch up and then some.

I've been working on the hoophouse after work here and ther. Managed to get end walls up. I will frame the doors and start on the solar mulch.
