OCD 2017!!!

Well it's 2017. Finally! Last year was a success, as far as the ground plants were concerned. Virgin, clay ground. My Chinese got smacked by hail twice! No room for error with those. Out of 12 plants I got ONE BBG. First and only. That variety is cursed. Tried for the past 3 years and some sort of calimity happens.

This year I decided to try 21+ different varieties of the BBG. I have 9 Reaper crosses. 21 and counting other varieties. I built a hoophouse and some COB led's. Planning on getting them outside in March sometime. That might be a delusion, beings I'm in Colorado. We shall see. There is only a few varieties that I've grown before. The rest are all new. I'm planning on isolating most of them.

Just started some Lemon Drops for Throwdown Growdown. I will wait a couple weeks before I start the others. Everything needs to be in order before I germinate. No turning back at that point. I want two plants from most varieties. Plants need to be woody by ground day. That's the only way I have a chance at success with late maturity varieties. If I have extras, I'll give away to my friends of THP.

My list is growing, but not much. Here is some of the varieties that made the cut.

Sim said it perfectly ;)

I have to move several that are in full sun under the shade cloth tomorrow. It's going to be 95° plus by the end of the week.

I hear ya about the heat. I was working concrete yesterday for 4 hours (alone). I drank better than a 1/2 gallon of water, I can't think of anything that doesn't hurt today..LOL

Re: #535, way to perform under pressure, Charles!  Great solution,
and I can see the wheels turning in your head already!

110 plants and rollin', can't beat that, my friend.  Get ready for an
awesome harvest!  Can't wait to see more pics of your progress...[/quote
Thanks Paul!
I'm surprised I got that far. I was dehydrated and physically drained. I'm hard headed so, that goes a long way. LOL!

I'm keeping on top of the glog this year. Its good documentation for next years planning.

The Chinese like the shade in my parts. Morning Sun is what I prefer. After that let there be shade. Annuum don't mind the full sun at all. No blossom drop or shock from them.

Plants doing good. I woke at 5am and got going. Labeled all the plants. Now it seems we are on a more personal level. Before they were just numbers. Like the IRS. LOL!

Looks great question where you buy the cool looking pots the red ones?
Those pots are from a local nursery out of Denver. I use to work up in Aspen in construction. I would grab what ever the landscapers wanted to throw away. Wish I had more. I do have some that are half that size as well. Don't know who made them. Can't find them anywhere on the web.

You've done a nice job of putting the greenhouse together, Charles!

Those plants are going to merge into very dense rows of green!
Thanks Paul!
Its not done yet. Just don't have enough time for everything right now. I'm going to put some shelves at the other end. Next year I want to install some legless tables for the flats. I won't be growing that many next year. I want to do half of the house with tiered plant shelving like at the big box stores. I want to grow containers on one side and in the ground on the other.
I'm thinking, I've over planted this year. LOL!

Great job Chuck !  Digging the vid . option ,        Hows the pumpkin BBgs doing ?
Thanks Frank!
BBG Pumkins are amazing. They look like yours nice and bushy. I love the growth on them. I can spot them in the garden. They really stand out. Now all I have to do is wait for pods. LOL! I hope the have some variants of the originals.

I'll do another vid down the line and show them. I had another video were I talked about them and others. It was to long, so I made this shorter version just to figure out how to get it uploaded and attached.

To follow this as a new build this season brings home the thought, the effort and your DIY skills as a whole, but the grow as well makes this one of my favourite.

The video is nicely done as well  Chuck, and the way you have got your rows of plants,   look like pepper runways [emoji1] [emoji1] which will be trees loaded with fruit very soon.
You deserve a cold one or two.[emoji106] :drunk:

Thanks Sim!
That means a lot.

I try and do things the best of my abilities. If I don't like it, I do it again and find a better way. I believe I got the hoophouse on the first try with a few minor changes to be made next year. I hope I get some peppers out of this. I believe my last good year was the same year Scott had his greatest year. Makes me wonder. I'm really excited to see what this thing will do in the colder months.

Chuck, you slammed it this season!

Every time I take a look it just gets better and better.

Keep it going bro!
Thank you Scott!
I hope so brother. I would like to send you a box of some of these crosses. That is my plan this year. I wanted to try a bunch of new varieties and send some of my friends pods and seeds. I haven't forgot the gifts, I've been given in the past. Just want to show some appreciation.

Such an extensive and informative glog for us all to enjoy and get excited for your garden, your hoop house, your hard work. Make sure you save and print every one of your comments and pictures, and make a binder for future reference. It's always fun to peruse your previous years' accomplishments and see where you hope to improve. You and your son have put so many hours of hard work into your garden projects. Smile and enjoy. Have a safe and fun Father's Day.

Thanks you so much, Jane. You are to kind. When I get time, I'll see if I can look back and compile some pictures from previous years. It progresses ever year. I've learned a lot from great friends on here. I find something that works and go with it. If it isn't broke, don't fix it and keep it simple stupid are my mottos.

I just used up all my soil and pots. To the very last. I still have 40-50 plants left. Its to bad. I may break some more ground, but that would mean more shade clothe. I want to be done with planting. I'll try and find homes for them. Here is the garden this morning. The plants seem to be thriving since I gave them some black diamond a week ago. I'll water with some kelp next week. Or when they start lightening up a bit. I think some of them have found the garden tone I mixed in before planting. Don't want to over do it in nutes.
