Passow's Grow Log 4-23-2009 - Hardening Off and Hops

Wow you have a lot of plants. The hops are cool too.
I haven't put any plants out yet, because I'm hardly ever home.
Maybe today I will but it's supposed to rain later so I gotta keep an eye.

I don't think there's anything special about them. I just haven't experienced the wilting 'thang moving them outside. Maybe it's the Sta-Hard creme I was rubbing on them.

Cheers, TB.

What about some Viagra in the fertilizer?

and it looks like it peed it's pot...
That's from the Jade plant behind the boobie cactus. The change in enviroment scared it a bit and it pissed itself. All the pepper plants laughed at him....so sad to see.

Nice peppers, but why top them so small?
They are actually kind tall now and I want some bushy plants this year.

Here's some updates for you fine folks. It's raining today and instead of leaving the plants inside I( decided to continue their hardening off process and stuck them in the garadge with the door open. Thus letting them still continue to harden off and not get drowned in the rain.

The hops are growing faster and faster (about 6 inches a day):

Gotta love watching those hops grow! And they're hella pokey/stickey on those stems. Like nature's velcro!

Plants are looking good man. Are those kabob skewers you're using as stakes?

Yep, those are bamboo skewers. They're cheap ($1 for a pack of 50), easy, and work every time. been using that trick for tieing down the new side growth stems for a bushier plant for about 4 years now.

They're 6" bigger everyday? boy, they'll be popular with the ladies.

Just you wait, soon they'll be growing 12 inches a day.

I have been hardening my plants off as well. I probably should have went with some small stakes like you did. A couple of my younger ones got a little beat up. Anyway, your plants are coming along nicely.

Any local grocery store should have them.

You're fertilizing with steak now?!!!

Well I don't know about you but I like to side dress at the rate of 1 pound ground beef per plant. Has a lot of beneficial microbes hahha.
