oh its a sticky start to a tricky season this year! But we will whip it into shape :) I see that picyure of yours with the snow in the background and it just reminds me of real christmas' I used to have in europe... somehow christmas just isn't the same in the summer lol
I'm sure you will, Lourens!  I remember a pretty spectacular grow last year!

I know what you mean, snow just means Christmas here, even though most
years we don't have any     We do have the Cascade Mountains close by,
though, so there is lots of winter backcountry ski trips backpacking and camping
so we can get a snow fix now and then

Here's pictures of the gas chamber pods going into the dehydrator.  You can get
a better idea of what the pods liiked like rather than in the bowls.

I love the color on these Red and Giant White Habaneros.  Check out the Cardi Scorpish
looking pods:

Here's a mass of red:

If you hate Orange Habaneros don't look at the next two pictures:

Well, hump day has come and gone and  Friday is almost here
Have a great weekend, everybody!   Party hearty!
          :drunk:

Beautiful pulls, pods, colors and plants. I am especially impressed how organized da green house is, my kids could learn a lot from you, hehehe. The OWs are trimmed to perfection, you will be blessed by dem girls next round and they will give you some outrageous pods!

Hab a great weekend mon!

PS love da color on da dehydrator trays ...

Ramon!  I spent some time in the Navy, so learned how to live in a small space!
A 6x8 greenhouse hasn't got a lot of room to spare.  I'm glad I got the benches
so I could keep some supplies and tools in there.

Weekend is looking good.  Wind and rain!  There are some pods still hanging on
and ripening slowly on the vines, but the final pull has to be coming up.  If we get
a good turn on the second round of gas chamber plants, then I'll go ahead and
clean the plants and go for a round three.  Putting the ripening pods in the gas
chamber will add several hundred pods to my total this year.  If this is something
I can plan on every Fall, then it changes how I look at my grow a little.

Okay, bud, you have a good weekend, too.  Friday is always a good day!

Wow Paul are you sure those pods are not made from Wax
That is beautiful  :fireball:
They are.  Well, not quite. I buffed them with cotton swabs and turtle wax   :liar:

I was very impressed by the gas chamber process.  There were less than half
dozen pods that had to be discarded.  The pods in the dryer are about half of
the ones he put in the chamber.  I gave the other half to him so he could share
them with the mexican fellas that work in his warehouse, so that's a pretty good
spoilage rate, I think.  Can't wait to see how the Bhuts turn out.

I sampled some pod slivers while prepping the pods for the dryer.  I was very happy
with heat and taste.  The 'Giant White Hab' had a wonderful fruity flavor, and the Red
Hab was hot as heck!  The Oranges were very mellow.  Some heat, and a nice flavor.

Hope you have a great weekend, my friend!

They really did come out nice!

So the flavor is very close to vine ripened?
I thought so.  But I'm not really an expert on pepper flavor and heat.
I don't think the difference is appreciable to me; others might notice
a difference, but I was pleased with the outcome.  I was more concerned
about them hanging up in the chamber for a week or 10 days and getting
soft, but that was a minimal problem; almost all the pods were in great shape.

Hope you are getting up to a great weekend, bro!

You picked a good one Paul, nice shot of the inside of the GH... you must be running daylight flourescents in there because it looks more blue than the decor would suggest. I'm sure you'll find room inside for the OW Fatali if you have to. The pods you gassed look good enough for a photo shoot. Have a great rest of the weekend!

Only time to post one pic now, will add more yard and greenhouse pix later today or tomorrow.

The greenhouse is getting full, and I still have to put the OW Fatali in it:

That's right, Rick, those are 6500k T12s.  My aim is just to
augment the meager winter sun for the Manzanos.  They
are growing great now, and I'd like them to continue to grow
slowly through January or February.

I'm getting the Naga Morichs and Bih Jolokias back tomorrow.
The others a day or two later.  Will put up some pics soon.

Thanks for dropping in, Rick - hope your week is off to a good
start.  Maybe a day off?

Looks nice and cozy in there.

I see a spot back left...
Good eye, Scott!

It is nice in there in the winter; when its cold and windy outside,
it's warm(er) and tranquil in the enclosure.

Hope you have a good weather week, bro!

Nice set up you've got there. ;)
Thanks, Penny; it's aways a work in progress,
but fun to test the possibilities.

Thanks Jericson, I probably have more time on my hands than you do   ;)
I'd trade the greenhouse for an acre in paradise!  I'd even go to pastry school!

Portuge, you are a glutton for punishment!  But I'm honored that you
invested that much time in my humble grow log.  Thanks for the kind
words.

I'm a noob in the OW ranks.  This is my second try at it.  Last year I tried
to overwinter around 15 plants, if I remember correctly, and 5 -7 made it
all the way through.  I managed to kill a couple of those, as you read         :banghead:
This year will be better!

Thanks for the bumps and the patience, here are the rest of the pix.

Mountain Pepper (Honduran).  Harvested most of these pods after taking the pic.  More are ripening up:
_DSC0720a_zps222eeff2.jpg

Choco Hab ripening up another round of pods.  Takes awhile in these conditions:
_DSC0723a_zpsf8914e39.jpg

Yellow Scotch Bonnet (Pulpiteer).  Most of these were harvested, as well, and more started coloring up today.  Had
some with chili last night; they are very fruity, not as much heat as the Mountain Peppers, due to their late start and
cool ripening conditions, I think.  I will be trying this one next year to give it a fair chance:
_DSC0724a_zps1590c9cf.jpg

The Goat's Weed (Shane)is in full ripening mode.  It has the choice spot under the light:
_DSC0730a_zpsc4ddd306.jpg

This has to be the last pod to set on the Goat's Weed:

The whole plant:

One of the growshelf Goat's Weed plants; it was getting too tall for the
lights:
_DSC0731a_zps42945776.jpg

The other growshelf refugees, two Yellow Ajis (Peruvian Market) and two orange Manzanos (Shane).
The Manzanos went through some weird gyrations but seem to have gotten their groove on lately:
_DSC0733a_zps2f7b7f31.jpg

Wee bit of a harvest.  Fatali x Red Savina (Justaguy via Spankycolts), left side.  Right side: top, Scotch Bonnet TFM (Trippa); middle, Mountain Peppers; bottom, Yellow Scotch Bonnet (Pulpiteer):

Okay, will be back post bump with some outdoor plant pics and pics of the greenhouse Manzano pods.  Thanks for looking in!

Portuge said:
I'm digging the greenhouse Paul, with all the plants in there hows the humidity in there?
The greenhouse is not sealed, so the humidity in the greenhouse is not
much different than ambient humidity.  It does condense water at night
sometimes, but usually dries out during the day.  In the depths of winter,
I have to be careful not to overwater due to the high humidity.  Mold and
mildew can be a problem if I'm not careful.

Thanks for the bump!

The Orange Manzano (Shane) is still setting pods;
there are several new small ones.  Here are the
four largest with a film can for comparison:

Meanwhile, things outside are looking a bit ragged.  Lots of yellowing leaves and funk,
but some pods are still hanging in there and trying to finish.

Naga Morich and Bih Jolokia (both from Spankycolts):

Devil's Tongue (USHotStuff), left, and Bonda Ma Jacques (Trippa):

Okay, that's it from this corner of the PNW.  Should have some gas chamber
pics in a day or two.  Hope everybody's week is off to a good start.

I see mother nature isnt playing nice in the PNW, just yesterday the high was still in the upper 70's here in Central Cali... Better get the fireplace cleaned out and ready for good ol winter...

This is pretty typical. Portuge, although our weather has more weird episodes
lately, like record rain some months, record highs in others.   Guess that's the
new normal.   Hope that firelace keeps ya nice and warm when the temps
drop below 68!

Thanks for the look.

Paul, I hate to see you go into winter... you have such awesome plants! I think we all need to take a step closer to the equator so we can grow all year around!
It's just the way it is, Lourens!  I'm with you, growing year around has a
distinct appeal. Don't know if I'd like the diseases and pests that inhabit
warmer climes, though.  Even your area has a slew of things to deal with
there we don't even have to think about.  Like monkeys!

Have a good week, my friend!
