You know I said a couple of mine had popped and was immediately told without pics it didn't happen. How you getting away with that Pauly? I mean hey it reads like you're doing well but........... :P

Glad to hear your germing is successful, Paul. It happens that way, doesn't it? Sow two or three and none pop. Sow four to six, and they all pop! Same with your two in a cell experience. That Murphy was a pretty smart guy...

Man, you have to wait until late May or June to plant out? Wow! It must be cold up there for quite some time. Impressive you were able to get the grow you got this past year with such a short outdoor season. I see the greenhouse is a real savior, for you, as well.

Good luck, my friend!
Hey, Brent. In years past, it was possible to plant out in early
May with no problem. The past two or three seasons that hasn't
been the case. The 2012 season was the worst. Cold and wet
until the end of June, then 100 days with no rain. Thank goodness
for the coal and oil companies :liar: So, for now, no greenhouse,
no decent garden!

I hate Murphy. Not really. Did you know he is a real person?

Your grow is to die for, my friend!

looking good paul keep up the goood work

Nice start! Keep it going.
Thanks, fellas! I'm hoping to avoid any disasters! Sort of like
Charlie Brown, I'm okay with being average

Hi Paul
Glad to see you're riding the wave of sprouting chiles... I spent a couple of days dialing in my seed heat mat, but I'm starting to get radicles now. In fact, the first out of the gate were your Aji Omnicolors. I planted them in Solo cups this morning. Hopefully the rest will fall into line soon. Cheers
OOOh, glad to hear the Omnicolors were viable for ya.
I'm with Trippa, fresh seeds rock! Enjoy those babies,
Rick; it's a very versatile pod! I can't wait to see what
you do with them!

I found this interesting. I usually keep both seedlings if two come out in the same cell, so this isn't really an issue for me. I found that the trick is to move them into pots sooner than you normally would, definitely before they have any true leave. I have separated and transplanted only a couple of days after they pop, and I haven't lost one year. Of course I am cursing myself now. Ouch!
I agree totally Stefan.
Last year. I cloned the extras, and have had good luck with separating
in the past, but find it's just an extra thing to mess with at this stage in
my life! The plants can handle it, but I don't want to be bothered. Do I
sound like a curmudgeon :D I'm restricting my cloning to mature plants
I want to propagate, like the bushy phenotype Yellow Aji I grew out from
peruvian market seed.

You know I said a couple of mine had popped and was immediately told without pics it didn't happen. How you getting away with that Pauly? I mean hey it reads like you're doing well but........... :P

It's a privilege accrued to old fart veterans of foreign wars!
However some folk have been letting me know!
I'll get to it as soon as some seeds pop. Oops.

Here's the latest. Still 20/26 varieties, but a number of repeaters:

Bahamian Goat Trippa (3/6)
Naga Morich Robin P H (4/6)
Congo Trinidad Red PM (5/6)
Red Savina PM (5/6)
Jamaican Red Habanero FM (6/6)
Bih Jolokia Robin P H (2/6)
Bonda Ma Jacques Trippa (5/6)
Scotch Bonnet TFM Trippa (3/6)
Yellow 7 Trippa (4/6)

No Shows so far:

Tepin Cross Shane H
Tepin 15 Shane H
Scotch Bonnet MoA Steve
Scoth Bonnet Yellow RF
Devil's Tongue USHotStuff
Peruvian White Habanero PM

Okay. I promise to think about trying to maybe get a few pics ;)

A couple of repeaters last night.

Congo Trinidad Yellow Pia's pod (6/6)
Scotch Bonnet TFM Trippa (4/6)

I think we are at the end of the germination run for the majority.
The No Shows are either going to take a long time or not going
to make it at all. I'll leave them to continue germinating, but am
going to take the domes off the others since they are showing
the first set of leaves.

If those Peruvian Whites are the same as the White Bullets you sent me earlier, I got pretty good germination from the seed. If you need some...

Actually, these are commercial seed, and supposed to be the larger
white habs. I have some of the small pod white seeds, but wanted
to try the others again this year. They didn't germ for me last year
either if I remember correctly. What a sap! But thank you very much
for the offer, Brent! Have a good week, bro.

Okay, for all the Doubting Thomases, nay sayers, and non-believers ;)

The sprouted seedlings came out from under the domes. A number of them
have little roots poking out of the bottoms of the cells. I'll let them get a
good root ball before I transplant, and will start bottom watering the cells now:

The no shows and a cell pack of Wild Texas Tepin seeds (THSC) from my last harvest:

Okay. There ya have it! Have a good week everybody!

That a great looking grow cabinet you put together, everything's nice and clean in there! I think I need to build something like that for my sis and her forever expanding indoor grow. Best of luck this season, your already off to a great start in 2013.

Thanks, MP! It's a real upgrade from last year; lights with a
reflective blanket draped over them on my workbench!

I'm not sure a grow shelf will be enough for Missy! She may
need to buy another house just for her grow!

Hopefully you can get those last few to pop with another week or 2 Paul. And hopefully you can get over 80% germ rate on the others and then you should have plenty of plants to choose between for the strongest

Thanks, Tristen. Even if no more pop, I'd consider this a success.
Some new varieties and some repeaters from last season. With at
least 2 of each, I will be able to select as you suggest, and still have
a few to share with friends and neighbors! Can't beat that.

Now just to see how many of the plants in the greenhouse make it
through the rest of the winter!

Looks like you are off to the races, Paul! Look at all that evidence. ;)
Defense exhibits 1-5.
I rest my case :D
Good growin', Brent!

They sure are cute when they're little aren't they? Those are some pretty seedlings there.
Thanks, Scratch! I'm always nervous until they start their
2nd set of leaves, then I can breath a little easier. Hate to
see the little guys damp off! I need to get the fans going
before they get too leggy.

Good growin' out your way; how's the weather in VT these days?

Set up is lookin supreme there paul! They will be happy to have the dome off and getting that fan blowing on them. Does that fan run constant or does it cycle on and off?

It's been unseasonably warm the past few days, but I hear there's a cold front coming in. Good thing we have plenty of firewood.

Now if we could only get a little snow....
