… Go for it, Stefan! Rootone is a great product. Apparently a few folk on the forum use Clonex, but I have never tried it. Sounds like an experiment for 'someone' to try out! When you first take the cuttings, keep them moist and not too much light; they are recovering from surgery! When the little green growth tips start showing, then you can increase the light a bit. I keep mine on the workbench with a small single CFL as the light source, about 18" away. When they start to grow, I move them closer to the light until they can handle the grow shelf with the big boys.

Good luck, my friend!

Two questions, can I do this outside and what type of cut is best (i.e. angled or straight) and I’m assuming a razor type incision like xacto knife. Any info would be interesting and I might give it a go when temps stabilize … thanks in advance :)

Two questions, can I do this outside I think so if temperatures are moderate and not in direct sun and what type of cut is best (i.e. angled or straight) I cut at an angle to maximize cross-sectional area and I’m assuming a razor type incision like xacto knife I just use a pair of decent scissors, but knock yourself out ;) . Any info would be interesting and I might give it a go when temps stabilize … thanks in advance :)
Give it a whirl, Ramon, even if just to get some practice
for when you have a need for making clones. Denniz will
tell you it's a piece of cake! But be careful, you will be
assimilated. Resistance is futile.

Thanks for the feedback Paul, and yes I'll give it a go soon when temps stabalize and I'll go with the shade till dem hardy ...

Todays germination results. Pretty random at this point.
21/26 varieties accounted for.

Repeater:
Scotch Bonnet TFM ................................ Trippa (6/6)

New Variety:
Devil's Tongue ......................................... Us Hot Stuff (1)

Many seedlings with first set of leaves growing out. Next
watering, maybe a 1/4 strength fertilizer.

Hummm, grafting, so I guess I could take a good strong Jalapeño and graft on some Red Habanero, Fatalii, Yellow Scorpion and a Naga just for good measure and have. HabaFatScotpNEno plant. Would be nice and colorful.

Nice

100% germ on the SBTFM :woohoo: nice work Paul!
Yes, brother, and the Bonda Ma Jacques and theYellow 7  !
The Bahamian Goat is 3/6. So far, your seeds have an 87.5% germina-
tion rate. Credit goes to the grower, my friend!

Smokin'!

I think you have a perfect grasp of the concept, Bill ;)

There were some great grafting threads/posts last season.

+1 you da mon Paul or is there special secrets you possess ;)
No secrets here, WG! I should compare this year's and last year's germ rates
since I grew in orchid mix and regular peat/soil mix last season to see if
there was a difference in germ rates. In the end there wasn't a significant
difference, really. Now this season the starter mix is basically fine peat,
fine perlite, and a wetting agent. I have a feeling there isn't a significant
difference here, either, but will report later. (Later: Ha! check it out below!)

Glad to hear the DT popped. How about the Peruvian White? Slam dunk on the SBTFM, sounds like!
Ha! I'll take 1/6 on the Devil's Tongue at this point!
No luck on the Peruvian White, yet, but I'm not giving up.
I can always try to sprout some of my harvest seeds.

Yeas, Tripp's seeds rock, for sure!

Moving right along there buddy! Keep up the good work Pauly G!
Thanks, Jamison; back at ya, buddy!

Great job with the gemination. Trippas Scotch Bonnets must have some sort of super growth enzyme in them :)
Must be the rarefied air surrounding his grow
Basically all I did was put them in the starting mix!

A few more repeaters today.

Fatali Savina ............................ Robin P H 4/6 this last sprout is tiny
Bonda Ma Jacques ................. Trippa 6/6
Yellow 7 .................................. Trippa 6/6

Tripp's seeds hit the trifecta

After diving into last season's bloated glog,
here's last year's germ rate record. See post 92:
http://thehotpepper....12/page__st__80
So far this season, for the varieties that have germed, there are
93 /126 sprouted for 73.8%. Almost exactly the same
as last seasons results with the two other media (73.5%
avg, 72% for soil mix, 75% for orchid mix). That tells me
it's more about heat and moisture more than the media I
germinate in in my situation!

Later note: This season there are more varieties with 6/6
germ rates, than last. Last year, many 5/6 varieties.

Solid info and I believe this is the same in my case now ... I'll have to cook dem eggs :D

22/26 sounds really good, what is left to go?
Hey, Stefan. Varieties left:

Yellow Scotch Bonnet RF
Tepin Cross Shane H
Tepin 15 Shane H
Peruvian White Habanero PM

I also started Wild Texas Tepin seeds from
harvested pods on 1/13, original seed from
Shane.

You're tearing me up on the germ side! Good job buddy! Hope those hold outs pop soon.
It would be nice to get a plant of every variety, but if they
don't, I've got a fair amount at the time, so no worries. I
need to go see how your start up has been going the past week!

i am giving up on the peppermania peruvian whites, purchased 2011/12, i have burned through the entire package and zero on the germination. i am looking at 6 more in soil since xmas and nothing happening.

2012 i tried every possible sprouting technique with these guys and nothing. thought i would try again this year but history is repeating itself.
