Hi Paul
Glad to see your germ rates are doing well... I've got hooks showing in 9 out of 10 varieties planted. The last holdout is the Manzano Amarillo. Did it prove a finicky starter for you too?

i am giving up on the peppermania peruvian whites, purchased 2011/12, i have burned through the entire package and zero on the germination. i am looking at 6 more in soil since xmas and nothing happening.

2012 i tried every possible sprouting technique with these guys and nothing. thought i would try again this year but history is repeating itself.
Hey, BC!
I'm thinking that I need to just start some of the Per White Hab
seed I harvested last year from the plant spankycolts gave me.
It was one of the earlier pod setters, so there should be plenty
of time still.

How's the weather up there? We are in a bit of an ice box for now!

i'll take your ice box over mine anytime. actually we have been chinooking for a few days(not sure if you get chinook effects, they can shoot our weather up 10 -15 degrees in hours).

what is really nice is we are turning, the sun is slowly moving higher. so at 3pm, it was -11C outside and just the way the sun was hitting my greenhouse, it was 5C inside, but then by 4:30pm the sun started to drop and the greenhouse dropped to -5C in less than a half hour. but that is promising as the sun climbs in the sky it will hit the greenhouse longer and i am hoping by april i can put things in the g/h in the morning and then late in the afternoon bring the stuff back in.

i found a local guy that has yucatan whites and white habs(i am guessing they may be bullets). i may venture a trade and move away from the peruvians until a future date.

good luck with your growing, i will watch your glog.... interested in how the bahamian goats do for you.

Haven't tried the yellow Manzaano yet. The Orange Rocoto is the
only pubescens variety I've been able to sprout. I have a few
other pube seeds I haven't tried, yet.

Have a good week, Rick!

Yes, we get those once in a while. More common for us to get a pineapple express dumping lots of warm rain on us. I imagine your winters are a bit colder than ours.

Do you have a heater for your greenhouse? I use a $12 Patton I bought at Home Depot. Farmers used to use them to keep chicken coops warm. It's not perfect, but it keeps the lows in the 6C range at night. If it's sunny, the day temps can hit as high as 15-20C.

As am I. They get a lot of 'good press' on the forum!

Hey, Stefan. Varieties left:

Yellow Scotch Bonnet RF
Tepin Cross Shane H
Tepin 15 Shane H
Peruvian White Habanero PM

I also started Wild Texas Tepin seeds from
harvested pods on 1/13, original seed from
Shane.

Thank you for the info. The only one of your tough starters on my grow list is the peruvian white hab, and after reading this I am thinking it may be worth starting these seeds early just in case. I don't have much room for error or slow starts with my short grow season.

Germ rate seems good to me Paul! Your list so far sounds awesome. Hope you get some of those last few varieties to pop. Keep the updates rollin!

Those are popping nicely. You guys are making me feel so behind lol. Last year's late cold snap had my plants an extra two weeks indoors and that was rough.

Hope you keep getting good rates and we have early constant warm weather to get all our babies in the dirt.

Hey Paul,
No fare hiding your stash of seedlings... I want to see the progress with my old......own eyes. I can read the the germ rates are high and mighty......
and please don't hold back on the food shots, I'm trying to get prepped up for lunch.........ha
Seriously, it sounds that your indoor grow is on track with no delay. Best of luck to ya !

Hello, my friend! It would be good if the tepin varieties
germinated, but I do have a Wild Texas Tepin in the
greenhouse that looks as it it may make it through
the winter! I started some Tepin harvest seed about
a week ago; hope something comes of them. The
Wild Texas Tepins have become one of my favorites.

Hope all is well with you, Britton!

Sounding great, Paul. Only a few holdouts to go!
I'm giving them every chance to come through!
I did start a little cell pack of Peruvian Whites from
my harvested pods this morning.

Have a good week, Brent!

 Fantastic
It could be a lot worse, brother.

Your grow is looking great!

Great guns Paul! It's going to be a cracker of a season for you!

You guys up north with those ridiculously low temps, we don't even get those in our freezers lol Man that is cold!
Hey. Lourens! Cool to see your lady on the forum!
Things are shaping up okay for the moment.
Knock on wood

We had 21F (-6C) last night, but it looks like we will be up to
just at freezing and a bit above for the near future. January
is usually our coldest month. Our 50% frost date is about
1/3 into April.

Those are popping nicely. You guys are making me feel so behind lol. Last year's late cold snap had my plants an extra two weeks indoors and that was rough.

I feel your pain, Bo, last season we couldn't plant out until way
into June. I think my germ rates are what they are going to
be, not counting the recent starts. Maybe 73%, give or take
a percent.

I second your motion for a nice mild Spring, and would add hopes
for an extended Fall, as well! Is that too much to ask  ?

Hey, fellas! Okay. I think my full social calendar may have room to
squeeze in a pic or two today. It's just kind of slow going at this stage,
lots of cotys and small leaves; not so exciting, but the name of the
game for now! You boys are stern taskmasters, 'old' eyes and all :D

Good luck with those, Stefan!
Where did you source your seeds?

I have seeds from Judy at Pepperlover, some seeds from Peppermania, a few packs from Wildfire, and even a few packs from Jungle Rain. There are some varieties from Bakers Creek too, but I don't think any of those types made the final cut into this year's grow list.

My seeds from Peppermania have always
had a good-to-great germination rate.
Don't know what's up with the Whites.

Here are some pix of cotys for those who have been in my face encouraging
me to post some. Okay there are small leaves, too. Looks like thecotys are
starting to dial it back, some kind of losingtheir chlorophyl. A few leaves look
like they mayhave minor nute or water issues, but for the most part looking
okay for now. Will be transplanting when the second sets of leaves have had
a chance to develop.

First, he bushy phenotype Yellow Aji Clones. They have excised the cut
off stem ends, and the large leaves still seem fresh, no wilting evident:

Just a side note. I made a nice cheese and mayo sandwich
with some thin sliced deli meats and a generous sprinkling of
DocnRock's Nuclear Red powder. My mouth has been :mouthonfire:
since I started posting these pics!

Great update Paul and Yayyyyy on the pics.
Thanks, Pia. Glad to oblige!

Seedlings looking great Paul but where's the cheese, mayo & DocnRock's Nuclear Red powder sandwich pics ;)
Thanks, Ramon. Sorry, man, hunger trumps taking pictures!

Your clones look great Paul! Did you use any root hormone?
Yo, Steve! I used Rootone powder to dip the wet stems in,
then into the starting mix.
