PaulG 2014

Grow List 2014 - Many new varieties and a few repeaters.
This is the third year of my original three year plan to grow a slew of different
types to see what grows well here before settling on some consistent performers.
I'd love to grow some of the new varieties from this season again, and some more
of my favorites from 2012, but not enough space.  But I have seed for my favorites for
season 2015, so I have something to look forward to already!

Major goal for season 2014 - lay in a good supply of super hot powder!

Everyone loves a nice rack ;)

Filled with powder that is!

edit: Sorry but Bill got me going...
Shall I start a pool to see how many rack jokes will pop up?

What do you think a rack of these would be worth if it were a product?  The rack would hold 6 ounces of powder in all.
Thats a great idea. In a specialised food shop they would be worth a good amount.
PaulG's Homemade, Organic Chilli Powders! presented on a great rack :)

I agree that is a great idea.  But I have no idea what powders really go for now days, since I rarely purchase much, unless it is something that is really unavailable.  Including the powders in a nice shaker set like that should up the asking price a bit.  Sure would make a nice present to any Chilihead.

Not touching the rack side of it, got to stay out of trouble at home!

Okay, Paul.  You've inspired me to germinate some rocoto seeds in about a week, and see what I can do at the southern end of the State.  I just have to pick a good spot here once it goes outdoors.  Partial shade, huh?  Not good...

As far north as you are, you shouldn't have to worry about partial shade Jim. I've had my Manzano planted in full sun for the last 2 seasons with no problems. It drops blossoms during the hottest part of the summer, but so does everything else. In general, the Pubes are very slow-growing, so try to germinate your seeds as early as possible, and if you can, over-winter the plant to give it the earliest start possible in the spring.

Nice job with the racks 'n shakers Paul... what a generous neighbor you are! I hope your neighbors think so too... ;)

PaulG strikes in southern Oregon!  Very generous, of course.  I have to say that annuum powder really has my interest.  I don't think I've ever seen this type of powder before.  I really appreciate your effort and generosity, Paul.  Merry Christmas!!

Thanks, fellas.  Like I said my neighbor found the racks and bottles on Amazon Prime.
All I did was fill 'em with powder    ;)

What goes around comes around, I guess.  Look what arrived in the mail from Tristen!
_DSC2515a_zps771633e9.jpg

I'll definitely add a couple of these to my grow next season.  Thinking Chili Goronong and the Cabe Gendot pubescens.

Just a little portrait of a real hottie:

You can see a seed nestled in the slit pod on top.

Fun, indeed!  Next season I want to photograph more
of the dried pods.  They have a cool look, to me.

Have a nice Christmas!

Thanks again, Tristen.  It pains me not to be
able to grow out everything at once!

Your seeds have been very good to me, brother,
and I'm sure these will be no exception!

Just a small illustration of the power of genetics.  Both of these Aji Amarillo starts came from the same seed pod:

They went into the germination chamber on 11/15; hooks 4-7 days later.

It's not genetics.  It's the blue cup.  Didn't you get the memo??

I'll be firing up the aerogarden with some chinense seeds in about 10 days!

You have a good Christmas with your family, Denniz!

Man you've had a great season and harvest! Those Douglah's look scarey.

Had hernia surgery quite a few years back myself. I'd imagine you're up and mobile again.

Yeah, I had two hernia surgeries in the past year,
but everything seems to be holding together so far!

Neil
Thanks, Neil.  We were fortunate to have a
great grow season this year in the PNW!

Hope you and your family are enjoying the holidays.
