@HellfireFarm - that‘s right, sort of staggered
starts beginning with the wild varieties and
ending with the chinenses. Annuums will
drop on April 1st.

These plants* will eventually go into
#15NC containers…

…but for now, out to the greenhouse.

Amazing Paul, looks like you waaaay ahead of the game this season :)
Lourens! Thanks for stoping by, my friend.
Having the grow table to augment the grow
shelf has made it possible to OW a few
specimens and still have room for new starts.
I hope things are good for you and your
family in SA. Any plans for the coming over-
winter season?

Thanks buddy - all good here. Our property is still not sold, so stuck in stasis at the moment until we do. We are are entering our fall now. Plants are still outside and will probably go into the greenhouse end of April. We get our first frost beginning of May. Luckily our winters here are very short and light, so things will kick off again around July/August indoors. I have had a very small grow on the go the last few seasons given a grow area the size of a postage stamp. My focus has been on stabilizing some of the cultivars I have. There will be about 25-30 cultivars in the greenhouse this winter which will join the new plants in the spring. Hopefully I can also get an early start next season like a brilliant grower I know (wink wink nudge nudge)

Glad things are going well for you. Hope the
property moves soon. Really missing seeing
pics of your grow, my friend 😉

Another tray for the greenhouse.
These are bound for 2-gallon cans.

Seedlings in the first two cubes are from A+ ivory variegated pods. Those
in the 3rd cube are isolated seed from the first several pods on the grow
table in 2021. The last cube starts are from some white variegated pods.

Those kind of got away from me

Should have taken them out of the germinator
yesterday. It's in dim light, so the seedlings
really stretched. I don't like them to use up
their energy like that. Decided to put them in
some dirt since there are already little root tips
poking out the bottom. I will fill the cups up
with up dirt to bury the seedlings deep, up to
the cotys if possible.

Never heard of variegated Jalapeno - looking forward to seeing those!
@catchthebear (Matt) has a dedicated grow log
for these. He's calling it the 'Mattapeño'. He gives
you the whole story there.

Also pics on there and on my 2020 and 21 grow logs.
Just a sample from 2021........................................2020.

Nice looking Mattapeno! Love that the peppers also show variegation, that together with the purplish nodes make it look awesome.
Jalapenos seem prone to variegation... last year i grew jalapeno Early and it also had a bit of variegation, this year the same for jalapeno el jefe. I will post some pics in my glog.

It is a nice jalapeño variety, alright. So far in my strain,
the variegation does not cover the whole plant, just
certain branches. Usually the pod variegation matches
the leaf variegation at that node, but last season, I noticed
pods with variegation on nodes with non-variegated leaves.
Will be interesting to see how they develop this season.

Have your plants with variegation produced variegated
pods as well as leaves?

Just some sporadic variegation on the leaves, definitely not as much as in the Mattapenos!
I am really looking forward to this season's 'Mattapeños'.
If you ever feel the need to try them out hit me up. Matt
also sells seeds on his web site, if you want them from
'the originator hiself' 😉

My strain of the ‘Mattapeño’ variegated jalapeño
had a great germination rate - 12/12.

I just sowed a Mattapeno seed this week, Paul (got them when I ordered a variety pack from Matt.) Your photos are making me even more interested to see what it looks like as it develops! :)
