I'm a cat lover so anything that would actually hurt them offends me. However, I have heard that bobcat urine (you said you had a bobcat coming!!!) is supposed to deter all kinds of animals.
TBO, I've never had problems with cats in the garden, and there are a bunch of wild ones in my neighborhood. However, my indoor cats love pepper plants - one of them ate the tops off four of them I had brought inside one night due to a predicted frost.
