Pepper or weed

I found this plant growing by my big cedar tree last winter. It caught
my eye because of the red round pepper looking fruits. At first it looked
like a pepper to me, but may be some other kind of plant. I took a
picture today, no red ones, just green. What kind of plant or weed
could this be. It does have a resemblance to a pepper.

definatley dont eat that, its a nightshade, same family as pepper and tomatoes but those are poisonous when green I believe

Yea its a weed. I have some of those growing in my yard along the fence and under a cherry tree.

Yep also known as "Deadly" Nightshade over here in Aus, probably dont eat it

Yep that is a weed and not one you want to mess with, I don't know its botanical name right off hand, but I would just go with it being a nightshade of some type. If you have some little ones running around I would pull it up and trash it.

Was just googling around and damn, check out these bad boys:

I might just try and track down some seeds and grow them for ornamental value!

On another note, I'm trying to grow Solanum centrale (Australian Bush Tomato or Desert Raisin) this season but have had no luck getting them to germinate.

I believe they too are poisonous when unripe.

I was just kidding. Didn't eat it! When I spotted it last winter, my sister did
take a bite. She spit it out after I told her it may be poisonous. Thanks
everyone for I.D on weed. First time I have ever seen it in my yard.
