Pepper Tasting Parties

Just beware, I checked out the site and there is NO Alcohol allowed at their festival. Just sayin...
Just because it isn't allowed at the festival it doesn't stop you getting loaded and then going to the festival!

I can see it now...Nova standing next to his vehicle, propping himself up next to the opened boot saying "pssst, I got the REALLY good peppers here! Nevermind all those festival peppers. How about a turkey slap?"

I really like the idea of a pepper party. Sounds like fun. It would be nice to get a chance to taste the different peppers out there, meet some like-minded people and have a bit of fun.

How do you know me so well?

You'll never catch me. I'm elusive!

There was always one hard and fast rule about drinking in my circle: DO NOT PASS OUT!

Sneak off and sleep that's ok; but to pass out in public view is a NO NO.There wouldn't be any permenant damage but there have been instances of people getting just one eyebrow shaved off, the ever popular permenant marker all over the face and of course for the ones that talk "smack" and pass out... they were subjugated to a little more embarressment!:rofl:

Luckily I have great friends. If we went by car there was a designated driver. But usually we took the train. And we would all stay at one person's house afterward so we did not have to worry that everyone made it home. If the party was at someone's house then of course we just stayed there.

I think we need to get back on topic.

Have it after the Pepper Festival which is held on Sept 10-11th this year, and I can probably get quite a few different varieties for the party.

I've picked peppers at the Meadowview Farm, near where they have the festival:

That might be a possibility. I am awaiting a dentist visit friday, root canal minimum. Any real vacations are out for the rest of the year now, but a 5hr drive and a cheap hotel is a definite possibility. Has anyone been to this? (Also do not forget, you can buy coca cola can stickers to wrap up your beers!

One serious question: after a hard core pepper party, what about the loo?

Don't know how I missed this. I wonder if this is near my family in Carlisle. If so...
It is probably an hour/hour and a half away from Carlisle.

No good, we tried that last year and there are NO bars anywhere around there. But, with a little research I'm sure I can arrange something.

I have been there and plan to go back. It is a really good time. Hopefully, this year we can get some decent weather too. Poured rain the last two years. Maybe we can try to set up some sort of party for this year.

I plan on going to the Bowers Chilefest, so count me in. It would hard to make it Friday, so Saturday is it for me. I also do videos for my new website, so I would be happy to film the pain. I ate a jolokia for one of my first videos, and I do not think I cursed more in a 5 minute period than during that time. I bought some mustard and cappuccino habaneros a few years ago when I went. I did Zestfest last year, and I might do Houston the following weekend.

There is also Peppers on the Beach to consider in Rehobeth Beach, DE. Something for the East Coasters to consider. I will be there too. Weekend of Fire in Fairfield, OH is the first weekend in August, and it is a huge Chilehead gathering. Plus the Monday after the show is CaJohn's Open House. New warehouse should be done by then. Lots of places to consider doing pepper parties.

I had an idea... local pepper tasting parties. There are so many damn peppers, I'd really like to know what my favorites are.

There could be parties where each person could bring 5 peppers (fresh or powder) and each party would be a minimum of 5 people. That's 25 varieties minimum.

You could sample them alone, try them on food, and take notes. The notes could be posted here online for everyone, but attending one would be the best way.

Anywho just brainstorming here.

If this is a good idea let me know and I'll see what I can do to do some sort of organization.
i like that ideal
