Peter S - 2017 grow

Here's my grow so far for this year. I started these early January. The large peppers in the basement are over winters. I'm trying to get my grow down, to around half (or a little more) than last year. I'm hoping this will be more manageable and less wasted peppers :) My grow methods this year will be Kratky (fill and forget and static nutrient level systems), self watering containers (diy earthboxes), and grow bags with potting mix on drip system fed with Master Blend. Also will continue to run some indoor hydro using DWC and sprayaponic methods. All my peppers will be fed with mix of MasterBlend, Magnesium Sulfate and Calcium Nitrate.

Here're my overwinters, hard to distinguish from this angle, but the back left is Jamaican Hot Chocolate, back right is Yellow Chiltepin, front left is Thai Dragon and right is Tien Tsin.

Peppers in AeroGarden Bounty. Back center is D3's Aji Painapple f2, front right is Yellow Dystopia, back left is Sugar Rush Peach and in front of that a 7-Pot Primo. Of all my AeroGarden peppers, the Painapple will stay in the bounty, and everything else will be transplanted to something else.

In the foreground here on right is Brazilian Red Olive, and beside it is a Reaper x Moruga f3. AeroGarden has a Cereja da Amapa, Andy's King BOC, Chocolate Unreaper, Aji Charapita and 7-Pot Chaguanas Yellow.

Your season is finishing off in great form, Peter!

Have you grown Datil before?  I found them to be
hotter than blazes  :fireball:
Thanks! This is my first year growing Datil. I love it. Has a very nice flavor and good heat.

Great update, Peter! Plants are looking great and loaded with pods! I bet harvesting all those Charipitas is a patience testing, tedious endeavor! Lol. That one Swiss Chocolate was huge, I had no idea they got so big. Your definitely doing things right. Thanks for the additional info on there being a White Bhut crossed with the Carbonero for the ‘Cream’ version (I thought it was just a natural variant).

I'd say definitely try and see if that branch that broke off can ripen by sticking it in water… I’m betting it can. Interestingly (I’m sure you’ve seen it), Khang on YouTube just posted a video documenting that very same concept about growing peppers from green pods where he ripened some on a branch by just simply sticking it in water for a few weeks. That should be fun and interesting.

Even though temperatures have started to drop at night here in the Carolinas, it’s still hot in the daytime so I’m sure you’ll have plenty of ripening pods to keep you busy! Keep it up!

Great update as usual Peter, your plants are a credit to you, nicely loaded. Yellow Dystopia kicking out some beautiful phenos now.
The cherry like red pods you say no one seems to grow, and your trying to advocate it, can I volunteer and grow it in my climate for you. Looks a stunning little pepper and super prolific.
Keep up your good work Peter. [emoji106]

Thanks! I saw Khang's video that you mentioned. I think putting in water will get it through. It's real easy to break them off, so brittle. Thanks for watching.

Thanks Sim! Yes, I'd love for you to try it. I think it's a great pepper for both flavor, heat and ornamental value. Makes an awesome powder.

Got an email from Ken at Martin's Produce, he's sending me another part at no charge. Should get the plants greened back up soon.
I reckon Ken is a chillihead Peter sending out the part you need free of charge. Lol.
Have the drip system plants suffered much ?
When will your season end Peter. We need few weeks of sun to to finish a lot of pods in the ripening stage.
Keep up your great work.

Yeah, what's the name of those red cherry pods?  I didn't quite catch it in the video.

Thanks Sim, Hopefully we can carry into at least half of October before the first frost hits. Sometimes it's earlier or later.  The drip plants just look really deficient, turning yellow. I hand fed them nutrients yesterday, should have my part tomorrow to bring everything back online.
