food Post Your Crappy Spicy Food

Just couldn't make myself do it. Take pics of the main dish for tonight's dinner, that is. Not realizing I was out of a key ingredient for my corned beef topping until it was time to put it into the oven, I improvised. Then I got tied up working and didn't take the foil off so things could brown up on top. Looked like a cat got sick all over that brisket. Real sick. Actually, I don't know that the english language has words for how bad it really looked. My son saw it before I sliced it up, blanched a bit, then asked: do you really expect us to eat that???
 
Would have been perfect right here, had I taken a pic. I tried, really I did. Just couldn't do it. Ah well... it tasted awesome, so long as you closed your eyes when taking a bite!

Yeah, today is just that. Hasn't been a good one a-t'all. Lots o' tears and tissue today. Tried to lighten things up by poking fun at my FAIL dinner, but just couldn't go there. Some other time.....

geeme said leftovers, so I'm going with LO corned beef.....topped with stoneground mustard.....
 
Ha! THP was closest, but no banana! I usually mix whole grain mustard, jalapeno puree and brown sugar together, but found I was out of the whole grain mustard. Went with more jalapeno puree than normal since it was the only wet ingredient, brown sugar in about a normal quantity, and mustard powder. A lot of mustard powder. Perfect combo if you're going for a topping that looks like cat-puke! It may have looked somewhat better if I had gotten to it earlier and removed the foil for a while so it could brown, but that didn't happen.
 
SL - I put the topping on before cooking the CB, so the whole thing was LO's. It didn't look any better last night than it does in that pic - just more like "fresher" cat puke! :lol:
