Placed on my heated bathroom floor tile... Wait shouldn't this be in the ghetto grow thread?

1/23/12 After 3 days of neglect while I was out of town. Tray sat on a table near south facing window. Not what they needed but it kept them alive. I used my 15 minutes of free time for the week and hung a light for them.

Great series of photos! Is that a black jalapeno in the salsa shot?
Those red cross pods look huge...you must of had bushels of pods throughout the year.

Our weather will be back up to the 70's this weekend. This year might be "Eenie, Menie, Miney, Mo" with the overwintering. Last year I did 25, this year probably only a few. I decided to go back to cloning a dozen or so for some winter podage...

A mucho nacho jalap Greg. Interesting you mentioned cloning. This morning I was thinking about taking some cuttings instead of the overwinters. I took cuttings of my coleus just in time, and think I will try some peppers next week. Calling for 32° degrees tonight so I'm hoping some are alive to even try anything. Make sure you give us another update before the snow flies.

Looking great John! I love that Annuum shot, I am with Jamie for Shot of the Year!

Those Primos and ICs are pretty gnarly. Your ICs are MUCH different than the ones I grew out this year. Gotta love the diversity.

Anyways, had a few minutes to pop my head in, have a good rest of the season.

Holy hell! Good to see you Matt!!! I'm in the dark about your whereabouts and all that stuff. Stay safe brother, and always, thanks for your services!!!

Time to shut this down with a final update. Temps got down to 29° while I was out of town and the aftermath is obvious. My exposed plot is melted to the ground basically. Some of these plants were 6' tall with 15ft² + canopy. Most are kneecap high now.

Most plants that were along the house are fine. Annuums and wilds didn't even flinch. I have some containers against the house that were spared too.

I did manage to get a couple plants trimmed back also. They are on their own now.

Thanks to everyone who participated in this!!! Friendships were gained, and plenty of knowledge obtained for next season. I am forever grateful. I will be updating my seed list this week. If anyone sees anything they like, don't hesitate to ask. Thanks again!!!!

John,
You had a great year! There's no need to get the broom out and sweep the spotlight away, this glog still shines...
I see you have an overwinter under your T5's. An Indian Carbon perhaps or one of those "Primo's" which were the gnarliest displayed here this season.
I'd sure like to know how many lb's of pods you picked and the generous amount that you shipped out as care packages......top notch!
Enjoy the upcoming season with your new strategies and goals! You've been an inspiration
here to both new and ole time growers...

Greg

Greg,
Thanks for your help. You may be the most perceptive person I have run across! Your glog kept me on top of my own,I was checking the ph of distilled water....True story!!!!! I still remember the Biggie Rat & Itchy Brother quip you made in Shane's glog, actually made me snort out loud! You are an absolute gem! I will keep in touch.....with a lot less questions!!!!

I think Greg summed up what would have taken me hours to explain in one small perfect paragraph :fireball: . This is the best 4 star grow log ever and will always be a 5 star in my eyes ;)

Jamie,
You inspired me to be a better member here. I was content with sucking up knowledge and giving nothing back. This is the only social media I am part of and you have made it enjoyable. We can act like whoever we want here, but I know without a shadow of a doubt that you are the same person in real life. That gets my respect 100%!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Was awesome to follow your glog this season. Cant wait to see what you have in store for us next year :) That overwinter looks awesome. the forks are all the way down at the soil!

The end is simply the beginning of winter break :woohoo:
Was a great season for you.
When I do my last harvest I will trying to send you some John.

Great season! Good luck with your overwinters and getting your seed list set. I'm really struggling keeping mine under control, I don't know about you...

Nice wrap up, John. The OW plant is a model specimen for sure.
The wild varieties and baccatums seem able to handle the cool
weather here, as well, although nothing below 36F yet. I have
enjoyed your glog immensly, and have had some really good laughs
reading your quips!

Good luck this Fall/Winter with your OWs and keep that swing fluid!

@Britt....you have been MIA! Hope all is well with you sir. Looking forward to seeing how you maximize your limited space next season. That balcony grow was top "tier".

@Brian... Was good getting to know you this past summer. Your packages were unsolicited and greatly appreciated! Next year I will make time to get out to the "wrong" side for a festival.

@Socalchile.... Thanks for the kind words. Two overwinters so far.

@Andy.... I cut my growlist for '13 in half. Then I added 3 times as many more. I don't think we are alone with that struggle. It's our "Cross to Bare" hah

@Paul.... It has been a joy following your monumentous glog. From the clones to your pod reviews. I hope all is well with your father also. How about the support through that tough time. That says a lot about our community, but speaks volumes of your character my friend. You are one of the good 'ol boys. I said 'ol...not old !!!!!

I tried to let this die but you guys are keeping me interested. I had about 45 minutes of daylight after work and I jammed another overwinter together. Lighting was bad...pictures equally bad. I didn't get a chance to take as many pics as I wanted for a step by step. Too busy racing the clock and watching the sun plummet!

Here is some "lumber" or should I say "lumbar". I think I pulled something pulling this. No time for the shovel.

2012-10-17_18-29-36_698.jpg

This was a frost damaged plant. I think it will be fine if it makes the "cut" in the end. I have another canidate that is the same species. It may get the nod over this one.

I scrub the roots with a high pressure hose setting, and then soak it in a tub of dawn detergent, and neem oil. 3 gallon pot is scrubbed with dawn and bleach. Plant is eventually watered in with superthrive to help the roots out.

Completely different structure than my other plant. This plant will be placed in a glass breezeway that stays above 55° at all times. The other plant and all future OW's will be in a spare room with south facing windows. These plants will be nowhere near my growing area. I may give them some light, but not quite sure yet. They will not step root near any of next years babies though!!

I will be getting to sending out seed in the next coming week or so. Got you down for pure Fatalii and pure Yellow 7Pot. Keep an eye out.

This Primo plant was the most prolific one of the ones I grew. This was left on it.

I chose to OW this plant because the Primo's seemed to take forever to ripen for me. Let's see if this helps.

Good choice on the OW, and nice cutback. That plant will explode at every node with new growth. If you want to slow the process down then just let
the plant produce the new growth at any time you can pinch the upper foliage to force dense lower growth or you can completely pinch all the leaves off. They will grow back, sometimes it takes a couple of weeks. Just remember by pinching one you'll end up with two new shoots at that location.
That might be a good idea on the upper growth will the taller plants. Once outdoors you'll have a monster.

With the 1st plant the hollow sound is somewhat normal with the short cutback. Although the center stem looks a bit woody that area may not produce well. But with 6 months of indoor growth the plant will be dense and shrublike when brought outdoors...

Great grow this year. You were really on top of it from beginning to end. I read your glog often and quite jealously. You really got some good early production! Also, great photos. See you next year! Oh, and thanks again for the seeds! I'm really looking forward to seeing your grow list for next year.
