Penny and Sammy took a ton of foto's and a very long and continuous video that will documnet everything...when I'm ready and when my Partners that created this go public.
I was totally blown away by what I saw and heard.
Everything is documented 100% now.
Again, they are a top quality team...I now met all 4 of them. And saw greenhouses, pepper plants, new varieties, Professors, Universitiy stuff, Farming operations, etc.
My loyalty is totally to them and my commitment to confidentiality absolutely over rides any need to jump the gun with this information in THP.
Or several other sites where I have more of a vested interested than here.
When it comes out it comes out.

I'm sorry the news isn't popping faster...I'm more impatient than any of you. Believe me.
I'm not as analytical or thorough or a maniac to detail as these guys are. But I totally respect them...and they are SMART. When they break their press releases and information, it will have been done RIGHT. Not like some other releases over the years that some THP FOLKS TORE TO SHREDS. Why don't y respect theri methodical approach?
I could tell you when they think that will be ready to roll...or my guess on when the word comes out......but they have been premature before with their time table on the announcements...and SO HAVE I...so I'll just say Chill Man....when it happens it happens.

Hmm, I think you gave us vague information about this too early without the details. I'm guessing you got too excited and couldn't wait to tell someone. I hope it all pans out for everyone well. I'm very curious about their breeding methods. Will the breeders involved be revealed in the future? I think your chile naming competition is very generous. I'm still new but that improves my impression of you.
 
Calling your potential customers on a very dedicated pepper forum idiots and to 'just go away' is not a good way to gain business. People here know a LOT of people. That seems to be the trend lately - the average customer getting insulted and it's really, really wrong. :( My last comment was directed towards the fact tons of people posted with possible names for this pepper and not one response until now. People may have felt they were writing to the air. Is that so wrong to be frustrated over that issue?
 
This is very interesting. I'm genuinely intrigued to find out more about it. I don't think people need to have a go at you for it, I think it is nice of you to share what you can on it.
I have a few questions:
1. Is it a hybrid they have created?
2. Is it the average heat or high heat they are entering?
3. Have Guinness mentioned how much longer until they announce it?

I think the naming contest should give away free seeds of this variety with it especially if they use what people have posted.

Its not that i dont believe that you have a super hot its just that you have a super hot hotter then 2 million shus I just took a wiff a bhut jolokia that i almost died over but it was probably only 1 million i doubt you can get one that is hotter then 2 million without a huge dustion of uranium over the field. Joe I have respect for your seed selling buisness but I dont really respect the fact that you change the names of varieties like if i got one of your spicy mustard hab and i had one of my friends real mustard habs (the guy who originally created the mustard hab) I would have 2 peppers of the same variety with 2 different names. I know you have a super hot on your hands but until i see pics how do i know it isnt a tepin or a common orange hab. Please do not just say you have the worlds hottest by taste too cause it will be the same thing as the dremans scale and you rating the pepper off of how hot you think it is and not listing its heat by how many capsaicinoids ( i know i mispelled it ) it has.

Sorry if someone has previously made this connection, but a hunch tells me Pepper Joe's source is this guy:

1. This guy Ed Currie lives in Rock Hill, SC, which is around 3 1/2 hours from Myrtle Beach, SC where Pepper Joe lives. This would explain the long drive to meet up and discuss this mystery pepper.

2. This story was posted November 10, 2011, which roughly 4 months ago, so it's pretty recent.

3. He references the pepper he thinks will beat the Butch T and calls it HP22B, hence the need to rename for marketing value.

4. He specifically mentions waiting to hear back from Guinness.

I don't know about you guys, but given this information, it doesn't sound THAT far-fetched that Pepper Joe at least knows a guy that might challenge the record. All the other stuff about 6,000 varieties (most likely 1st generation hybrids, which is entirely doable in a short amount of time) and Chinese peppers sounds more like someone was playing "Chinese Whispers," a.k.a. "The Telephone Game."

It doesn't sound like Pepper Joe is crazy scientific about things, so some of his original information might have been misconstrued or an exaggeration, but I also doubt that he is a fool when it comes to business and marketing (having been successful in the seed selling business for a long time) and willing to stake his reputation on a stunt or a prank.

I am kind of interested in all of this regardless of whether or not this new chile pepper breaks the record. It's fun to read posts and talk about this, which is precisely the type of thing this forum was designed for...being on the bleeding edge of the chile pepper world.

Joe, how can you not expect these kind of comments when you are baiting us with a story that is full of holes, and why would you even bring this up without some credible information. This is a discussion forum and whether you like it or not we will discuss the holes in your story until the truth comes out. I don't agree with the meanness thats starting to happen here but if you throw out the bait, you're going to get all kinds of fish. You can call us idiots and talk down to potential customers but I think in the end you are going about this the wrong way.
