If you modify a cat's brain to allow for movement in REM, they hunt imaginary objects in their sleep. This is pretty much proof that they do dream.

Must suck being the Prince of Liechtenstein and having so few subjects that you can invite them all over at once.
 
Mild correction for the second one. I heard it was because of Japanese stagehands dressing in black to blend in with the curtains and so the audience would ignore them. One smart playwright had an actor for a ninja dress as a stagehand and kill a character, which to the audience would look like he jumped out of nowhere.
