Recovering Your Ransomed PhotoBucket Pix

OK, can I assume you're reading this because PhotoBucket suddenly asked you for 300 bucks per year to continue displaying your pix online? And when you try to access them you can't move them to a different online provider that will for free? I've been transitioning to IMGUR and saving everything to GOOGLE Images so if IMGUR decides to squeeze my wallet I'll have backed them up to another location to upload to the next free site. Here we go....

`Log into your PB account and click on Library
 
 

 
`Find the album  you want to offload pix from
 

 
`I chose Miscellaneous 1
 

 
Click on the pic you want to copy - note URL - does not end with .jpg
 

 
`Rt click on image - Left click on Open image in new tab

 
`Note new tab opens

`Click on new tab
`

 
`Rt click on the URL turning it blue - hit Ctrl + C
`

 
`Go to IMGUR account - Click on down arrow next to your account name & click on Images
`

 
`In the Add to album menu - click the down arrow key - click the Upload to album selection
`

 
`In the menu that opens click on the album you want to upload image to
`

 
`After selecting album click on Add Images
`

 
`Cntrl +V - pastes the URL and it immediately uploads

`And is visible in the photo album
`

 
`And the album you chose a few steps back

`To post your newly rescued PB pix - Rt click on image - left click on Copy image
`
`

 
`Decide where you want the pic & click Ctrl  + V..... Voila!

I hope you had the originals backed up because DLing from PB gives you the super compressed image.

You could just download the embed fix for it. It will let you see PB pics on the computer that it is downloaded to, but not anyone elses.
 
ie: You can see the photos in forums, but if anyone else wants to they have to down load the fix as well.

As soon as the forum is upgraded you will also see them. We have a script that sees them, and we just move them (copy as image cache) to our server as it would be one of your uploads.

I've been using IMGUR for a while as I was tired of the Photobucket ads.  That probably means that many of my old THP posts lost the linked graphics.

I have over 3000 images on photobucket that were shared on 3 different forums until photobucket nailed us for 3rd party sharing .....they wanted $300 u.s. but finally they offfered me a package for $99....i paid that ransom and they unlocked all my images.

I put up with their slow speed.
 
And their BS advertising.
 
And then they turned it into a really bad turd sandwich.
 
One that I will never taste.
 
Yeah I had some pretty good pics on PB that I'll never get back.

Just wanted to post a quick note to let others that might not have come across it yet - There are now addons for Chrome and Firefox that bypass the photobucket blocking of pics -- You just add the addon to your browser and suddenly all of those ransomed pics show back up on all websites !
 
Sure makes browsing the old tutorials, Glogs etc. a much better experience !
