RocketMan 2014 - Resurrection

Wow, first growing season in the new house and I'm totally stoked for this one. Lots of prep work still to be done but there's plenty of time to get it done before plant out. So, here is a pic of where Pepper Row will be going in:

I'll be coming out about another 18 to 24 inches from the fence. The brick line will move out to the new edge and the Ivey will be kept cut back to wher it is now so the fence doesn't show through, she who must be obeyed has made it known that she doesn't want to see it :)

I'm still working on the list and as these will probably be in for a while I'm actually thinking about rather a short list using the peppers I use most often in sauces but can't get locally like Fataliis and planting 3 or 4 of each.

The other, non-pepper stuff will be growing in the big bed at the end of the row. We'll be putting in raised beds there but first I have to remove this bast@rd:

You're certainly welcome Bill! :)  Please post the recipe and pics of the process if you make pumpkin sauce with them, 'cause I'd very much like to see how it goes for you. Cheers!

You got it Rick.

My sister-in-law saw this pointed it out to me and now I'm scratching my head thinking what in the world?

I'm not sure whether something dug in and is camping out or not. The run off from the roof is about another foot out from this but it looks odd. It seems the piled up dirt would be on the other side where the top part of the ramp is rather than on the other side surrounding the deepest part of the burrow. Any thoughts before I go scorched earth on it?

Ok, a little follow up, its been 2 weeks now that the babies have been in their new shoes. There's been a little growth, Ill try to remember to get a picture next time with a ruler so I can start measuring their growth. Anyways here's a couple of pics.

Oh, and if you haven't been by to see the recipe for Bacon Jam I posted in the recipe thread, you've got to check it out!

Cheers,

Hey, Bill - plants on the move!  Hope they continue to do for ya.

Ever determine who the burrowing culprit is?

Thanks Paul, the plants are seemingly coming along great after all the abuse they survived. Wonder is it'll mean some killer hot pods

Never have figured what was burrowing there. Might have to fix up a IR camera to keep an eye on it :)

Time for some closer shots, ok they're a little dark but it was 6:15 in the morning :)

So, as you can see they're coming along nicely. Have a great day y"all!!

Are you going to keep the plants in pots or put them in the dirt?

My inquiring mind is wondering about that stump, did you ever get it out?

Devv, eventually they'll go in the ground but for the balance of this year I'm going to keep them in the root pouches.

I gave them each a shot of Fish Ferts and I'll be adding some more soil to the pots tonight. Here are some pics I took yesterday when the sun was up and it wasn't dark.

Hopefully the fish will give them a kick in the grow and they'll start putting on some size.

Cheers y'all

Bill it won't be long and those plants will be a ft tall

The fish emulsion works wonders, I add a teaspoon to a qt misting bottle with water and spray the plants once a week....well at least indoors, but you'll get the same results outdoors also.

Maybe I should get a video of it but my dorky dog seems to love the Fish Ferts. Every time I let him out he heads straight over to the plants and starts sniffing and licking at the soil. Hasn't puked yet, and his breath smells like @$$ so...

dorky dog!

Mine are the same way, if a drop hits the ground, one of them is on it. I don't know what they like about it except maybe because it's nasty stuff ;)
