RocketMan's 2013 Glog; In The House!!

There are no gardening mistakes, only experiments." -- Janet Kilburn Phillips

I love that quote and it will try my best to remember it through this new grow. So, I'm going with only 18 varities this year as we're looking at moving to a larger house if not buying this summer and I really don't want to have to try and haul a ton of plants when we do. the ones I've selected are:

Alot of them are ones i started last year that never grew beyond a certain point and I'm pretty sure that a lot of it was my new grower mistakes. Since I really want to try them I'm giving them a grow again. Once again, thanks to everyone that helped me getting started with gifts of seeds and to all on here thanks for leaving your incredable words of wisdom that we can all learn from.

Cheers to a bountiful grow this year.

Wow, I feel like I just went to class with the 60's sci fi, whatever the heck those roots were, and learning a new word: theriac.  Cool.

I use those big pickle jars as well, but I put an air stop in my tops.  Do you do that?  Do you need any sort of seal where it screws on?  It seems that some air could seep between the glass and metal of the lid.

Glad you're settling in!

Well, I haven't been able to get on as much as I'd like lately as they are tightening down on Internet use at work. Oh, I can still read what everyone has to say but just about all picture sites have been blocked :( So, now it's either use my phone or wait till Im home.

Lookin good Bill....and the answer is YES!  You need to get in there and bust out some new RM conconctions!

Cant wait to see more shots of you cleanin up the garden and getting ready for the long term grow.  Winter....what winter??? lol!

Little update, it's been a week now that they've been at the new house. They're still a little stressed so Im going to brew up some tea this weekend and hopefully it'll help get them back up and going. Also I think there was a little problem at moms with some horn worms or something.

Good on ya Bill... is that the first harvest since you relocated? I'm sure you'll get your plants back up to scratch soon, or if not... it's only 6 weeks or so until you start the next round anyway. Cheers!

Well 15 days in with 30 left to go and here's how it's looking good and the smell is nothing short of heavenly. Here's a look.

I can't wait to finish this up and give it a try. It's getting a milkyness from the Celery Root that I'm hoping will help give it a great white color.

Have a great weekend y'all. Hoping to get an update posted this weekend.

So far only one of them ones I don't recognize has a pod on it so I'm playing the waiting game. Actually have half a mind to just leave these in pots through the next year and put entirely new ones in the ground so I know exactly what they are :)

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by. Oh, and be sure to stop by and check out my new how to in the Hot Sauce forum on Infusions. I show you how to make a Bacon Vodka infusion that you can add to your sauces, chutneys, etc... without having to worry about adding any fats to them.

Bill did you get all the rain that passed thru northern FL? I would have thought that would have helped with the stress, some look great and others are super stressed out, would a little shade help out till they come back?

Hope you guys are enjoying the new casa, seems like a great place to hang your sombrero :D

Ramon, mi hermano, yep we got got some of it off the sides but not the full blown smacka :) So there still a little stressed. I picked up some supplies and will be starting a tea today and planning on a root drench and folier spray of the leaves adding a little fish emulsion to it at the end.

We're loving the new Casa and planning on holding the first Friday Spaghetti night next Friday.

Good morning,
Well the weather is starting to cool off a bit down here in Florida and the humidity has been more on the tolerable side this week . it's been great to be able to enjoy a cup of coffee sitting out on the back porch.  I'll have pics later today but this week will see the start of 2 more ferments as I get my holiday season sauces going. This year I'll be making Flaming Pumpkin, going to be different this year as it's going to be a pure Douglah sauce thanks to some assistance from Matt (MGOLD86), Shane (stc3248) and Judy (PepperLover). Also going to be making my Holiday Sauce which includes Tamarind Pulp, Pomegranate Juice and Fataliis. Non Sauce wise I'm going to make some Bourbon Fatalii Apple Butter and Pumpkin Chutney, maybe some Hot Lemon Curd but I haven't decided on it yet.

Hope all y'all are having a great week. we're half way to the weekend :)

EDIT: How could I forget to mention the plants? Not really much change but I started some water bubbling to off gas it last night and will start an AACT brewing tonight. Half of it is going full strength to the plant roots and the rest will be cut 50% and the leaves given a folier spray. I've also got a portion of the yard where the inspector left the sprinkler system turned of for a month or better and is struggling to come back so I'll spray it down too.

Hump day fun...

Now to position myself in the break room when the other chilie wanabe heads come in for lunch. BWahahahahahahah

Only had 1 try and he busted himself. The bag said Flaming Hot but I guess he didn't believe it. Well. he'll never make that mistake again. I had a bottle of milk on hand just incase so after a bit he cooled off but he was trying to be all slick and stuff. Leaned back in his chair and swiped a couple out of the pile and popped them in his mouth and when I turned around again his ears were bright red and he was just sitting there like he was afraid to move would be painful. Truth be told I just barely put any in to the bag like maybe a 10th of a teaspoon. So while he sat there I picked up like 5 or 6 and popped them in my mouth. Then he started sweating and busted himself out. I gave him the milk and told him to breath. Once he was calm he looked at me, told me I was crazy and swore he'd never take anything off my lunch ever again.

Oh, this guy can handle up to an orange hab with a little distress I think it was the surprise of it that got him. Still bet i could have picked up $100 for that bottle of milk if I'd wanted :)

Funny funny.

I might have to try that on a certain nephew who keeps coming back for more spicy stuff every time I see him. He would probably take a handful.

He crashed dinner one day and wanted the jerk chicken. There was a couple of tsp of my not 7-pot powder in the dry rub. (truly not 7-pot hot, but hotter than hab nevertheless.) That had him all teared up but he kept going...A week later he was camping with us and he asked to try the TSBT powder. He barely survived a real light dusting on his chicken..The tears were immense but he kept on going.

Haha...I did the same thing to a bunch of new Chief wanna-be's one year...I had some leftover pizza in the break room and came back to an empty box with a yellow sticky from the Selectees...so a few days later I left another one in there with a pretty good layer of Primo powder under the cheese...I microwaved it to glue the cheese back down and left it in the break room. Came back to every slice with one bite gone...and another sticky note saying "lesson learned" I came in while they were in there and ate a piece as I talked to them and walked out... Haha...love it!

Hope that box finds its way...
