romy6 2014

So I guess it is about damn time I started a grow log! Not a whole lot going on at the ranch  :shh:  but hopefully that will change soon. I grow peppers all year around outdoors. I live on the central east coast of Florida. It has many ups and downs but more ups  :fireball: . Bugs such as mites and aphids are always a problem for me. Over the years I am getting better at diagnosing them at a early stage . This Christmas I was lucky enough to have santa bring me an aerogarden and some how managed to make it's nesting place on my kitchen table. I know this is short lived and I will need to find a safer resting spot for it. Here is a pic of my outdoor operation. Most of these plants are between 8 months or older.

They look very haggard at the present moment. Lack of sunlight and low humidity will do that. But come spring they better bounce back into action.

Here is my little indoor operation. It isn't much but keeps me happy and grows peppers super fast. I planted a 7 pot lava( judy) , borg9( tmudder), yaki blue( nigel via standbyandfire), true cumari ( from judy) , defcon 7 ( tmudder), choc naga x brain ( me,via winchicken, via tmudder), and parsley for the boy :)

First to pop was the 7 pot lava. Few days later the defcon 7. Yaki and borg both popped with helmet heads and I managed to kill them trying to remove. I just added a few more seeds in each pouch .

Stay tuned and keep it green my fellow chili addicts .

Jamie my man so good to get back in touch! Your pkg should hopefully arrive mañana! Get some TP in the freezer tonight ;) lmk if labels are legible! So jealous of the year round poddage! I get sick amounts of pods for 5-6 months and then I jones like hell for the rest of the year, oh well that's what sauce and powder are for I guess! I know how much you love the yellow sauce, lmk what you think of the rest. Peace and love brother Jamie!

Rick I have been super busy with my sons baseball and truly scared to east the defcon but tonight I have vowed to taste test so will report back tomorrow Captain  :fireball:

Those look like it would dress up any meal nicely. The thing I luv about peppers in the yard, are the bright and different colors that come with them.Mine are somewhere between the dirt and the leaf, its going to be awhile before I get pretty pods.

Thanks guys I will reply back later .

Finally made the not so wise choice of trying the Defcon 7. This pod was well deserving of it's name . I was not prepared for the heat .

The smell was that  typical 7 but a little  much more on the floral rather than fruity end . The flavor was short lived but had a hint of earthiness that was taken over by an  extreme burn that took over my mouth and throat  . MOre sides of mouth and tounge burn . I was expecting more throat burn but luckily tha was not the case.  I was running for the cooler to kick back a cold one after only a couple minutes.  I had only taken a small  bite and was lucky for that . Stomach was glowing and I has a nice adrenaline rush . Heat lasted for about 20 minutes . I do not recommend  eating a whole one .  ;)

Pics look AWESOME !!!!  I know you will figure out a way to cook with 'em....lol   That Defcon looks wicked can't wait for your other pods to mature and see what they look like.

Got milk.....lol      Looking good my friend.

Nice that your pods are starting to color up Jamie. Wish I could have been a fly on the wall when you sampled that DefCon 7...

Hope you have a great holiday weekend with your tribe... got anything cooking on the grill?

Ahh..pod porn, good stuff.
 1. Yaki Blue-I did have 1 survive "The Purge" (hehe)that happened in my absence, so at least I'll have something to compare it to.

 2. Green Hornet-nice sized critter, my lone survivor was looking strong when I left last week...

 3. Datil x Limons-I had zero germ from these, so I tossed all the seeds , looks like you've had better luck- so I'll be watchin these.

 4. Defcon-7-That is a meaty thick walled lookin pod, and those orange toned goo coated guts, look really sinister.I don't the pain for a second.

 5. Your vid made me thirsty , time for me to give you a little lotta back up there! Cerveza time Amigo!!!!!!!

 6. Those doggies are looking even better then the plants , better to have the little sis on the table, I'm pretty sure Tebow would take it DOWN!

Always a pleasure brother-
Have a good one-

It must be a real luxury having such a long growing season. How high do your temps get in Summeer, Jamie? How do you use birgits?

It is  nice JIm but it has it's ups and downs. For one thing the bugs never die   It get in the upper 90's with 100% humidity . Only thing that thrives come summer are the ants, aphids, and mites .

7 pot lava almost ripe
