Here's my TikTok video updates for my Glog

I plan on restarting small. I ordered Chocolate Reaper seeds from Matt's Peppers (ETA Tuesday 2/14) and will be using my patio to grow the plants. I measured it out, and with the 5-gallon Home Depot buckets from my previous venture, I should have space for 24 on the balcony, using drip irrigators and a fertilizer injector.

I'll be sure to post up pics soon when I begin the seeding process.

Update 2/14/2025: Here's the first pics. Thanks to Matt's Peppers for the quick delivery and the freebies included in the package. I'll be starting my grow this year with Chocolate Reapers.

So.... I decided to call a mulligan on my most recent seed trays after the vast majority of the seedlings succumbed to sunburn.

That being said, I had enough remaining Chocolate Reaper seeds that I'll be starting two new trays. I've already got the seeds soaking, and tomorrow morning, I'll be planting them in starter soil and I'll be putting the trays outside from the get-go. That way, however many seedlings that do manage to sprout, will already get acclimated to the heat

Here's the seed trays outside on my south-facing balcony. I also put tape to prevent the lids from flying off, in the event that it got a little windy.

Careful. A south-facing balcony in FL sounds pretty hot to me. You don't want to steam your seeds, lol.

I made sure the trays were in an area that was shaded lol

In fact, unless the wind gets pretty bad, the area of the balcony they're in doesn't even get wet when it rains

Whew! I was starting to worry, but 9 days in, I finally had a seedling sprout overnight in one of my outdoor trays. Here's to hoping it'll be the first of many!

Make that 9 seedlings now as of this morning...

25 seedlings now. I don't think I've seen starter leaves that big on some of the older seedlings

You're doing better than me, I cooked mine when my garage temps went close to 90. My heating pad was left on unfortunately.

I think the first couple of rounds I did in March & April, that was my issue as well, since I had the trays outside with heating pads and under plastic domes.

Make it 30 seedlings. Now I feel like I can breathe easier because I wanted to have a nice buffer in case some of the ones I'll eventually transplant in a few weeks don't make it from transplant shock.

32 seedlings now, and the first few that popped up have the first inklings of true leaves on them.

As an aside, is it normal for the cotyledons to be so large? A number of the seedlings are over an inch across end-to-end, and the individual cotyledons almost a centimeter wide. I remember when I previously grew peppers back in 2012-2015, I don't recall the initial cotyledons being so large.
