Scotch Bonnet & Baccatum Grow- Back IN The Saddle

So after getting off to a good start I slamed into a brick wall concerning germinating seeds it did not matter what I did.
I realized that I needed to do some serious thinking & my green thumb instincts was telling me this is what I needed to do.
So I know it is not much to look at but the plan now is to grow for this pepper Jelly recipe I came up with last year but only had enough for one test batch everyone loved it even a friend who never had any & thought she would not like it.
The ox heart tomatoes that will be grown at moms will be sold at the farmers market as well as some of my pepper Jelly
I have sowed Bronze Fennel as well & have Brazilian Starfish pods placed for possible volunteers they will have to be relocated but that's no biggie an my other herbs /flowers will probably self seed
Revised 2016 Grow List

Red MOA SB Sowed January 4th 9 Seedlings
Arkansas Peach Reaper 2 seedlings
Ancient Sweet -not yet sown
AJI Penec -not yet sown
Over Winters
Yellow Moa SB
Red Moa Mutant Hot Pink with pimples & Apple Pheno

I continue to fight my arch enemy the tomato horn worm.
They ruined my tomato plants an now want to work on my sengals
I've been exterminating them when found an have taken great pleasure in reducing there numbers .
I will use diple dust form the beginning next season.
I also plan to change my starter soil for better germination results .
My next year plans are coming along it want be a big grow I am thinking but I will have plenty for me & friends .

Tomatoes form moms mystery cross they got my Sun there red 28th green strips kinda look to be the size an look of purple bumblebee but we never grew any .
This might be a indicator it's a Cherokee purple X Black Cherry cross mom grew both of them last year as well as this year.

Red Swamp Milkweed

The first 3 bags are sengals & the last two are aji penec & aji mango.
I still need to bag those that I put in the frig will be doing that tomorrow.
There still some that need to be picked even with the temps an horn worms damage .
Over I like them as a plant there really productive an the flavor of the peppers I like as well.

I never cared much for orange habaneros even though I grew them or habanero's in general.
My gateway pepper was form lake valley seed company.
I got the seeds form a local store they may of been a mushroom pepper strain or really a scotch bonnet or cross with some Habanero
Whatever the case may be they was a big hit with my friends
Today I went to that same store they had seeds form lake valley again only instead of Jamaican Red hot pepper they just had Jamaican hot pepper.
They still had that it was a scotch bonnet an extra early .
The peppers I grew took 90 days not 70 as they claim an still do.
This pepper they had on there looks nothing like anything I ever grew.
It looks more like a hot tomato pepper of something .
I happen to still have a unopen seed pack an took a pic of them side by side

Glad to see you're putting some of the harvest up ;)

Hornworms suck, once you see one, you have to go out every day, cuz they bring their buddies. An dang they can do a lot of damage in one day! Where did my plant go? As you can tell, been there done that. Interesting tomato, hope the seeds are true next season. I tried saving seeds from hybrid tom's and they were close, but no cigar..LOL So don't get crazy planting them and expecting the same output, but, you may be surprised ;)

And any Jamaican seed seems to be worth trying, I just love what comes from Jamaica. Good luck!

Thanks Scott those sengals sure proved to be a good investment
I just got my seeds form bakers creek green zebra, purple bumble bee ,Black Cherry & Brazilian Starfish .
Flowers Meteor Zinnia & Golden Globe Coreopsis as a freebee I got black vernissage tomato.
I am researching Dr Earth products as I plan to use them next year.

Well my season is done but for a few baccatums.
The only over winter will be lemon drop it's very ornamental.
I might get a few peppers form it before I take it in.
So it is time to start getting the garden spot ready for next season.
I have also been planing next year grow out an for the most part it's all planed out.
So till next year good luck on your remaining season & best of luck in 2017

These are whatever the original lake valley seed company bonnet have turned into.
There a rose pink or red now heat is more than they used to be.
The pheno original was more like the f3 mushroom pheno of sb7j
These came up volunteer at moms an was the same as those last year .
So I think the plant transformation has stabilized.
I will save some seed an hopefully they will germinate next year & be grown at moms once again .

I made Jelly about a week ago seven Jars in all.
This was my best yet perfect balance of flavor & heat
I used a mix of sb7j I think they was probably F3 gen as they looked like the ones of that gen in reviews I seen & red moa.
1 cup of lemon Juice, 1 cup of yellow cherry tomatoes & a red bell
I use 1 cup of unfiltered Apple cider vinegar & 6 cups of sugar with real fruit pectin & the ball Jalapeno pepper recipe as a cornerstone
Oh I forgot also used garlic & cilantro paste as per there directions the garlic to equal 1 clove an similar for cilantro

I actually like red moa over yellow moa & been thinking on trying to cross the Trinidad SB form hottoddy with a red moa this 2017 season
I been thinking for sometime of doing a bonnet to bonnet cross of some kind.

Jelly looks yummy!
I made some Peach jam with Yellow MoA's that came out really nice.

One of my MoA's came out red this year, I'm sure it's a cross, perhaps with a JA Hab. The first pods are almost ripe. Can't wait to try them!
