Scrapers and other kitchen utencils that don't retain the heat

So the rubber scraper I use to clean out the food processor I normally use just for that purpose. And I always wash my dishes in hot water and quality soap, even taking apart the scrapers and gromets, etc. to get a good scrub down.

But a week after last using it... I went to make jalapeno cream cheese and when I scraped the yogurt out of the container into the sieve... I licked the scraper. My tongue instantly blew up with heat, and I was wondering if that's because of the rubber used, or if it's a crappy spatula/scraper.

are there better products to use to resist this transferrance?
