seeds Seeds

pulled seeds for next season out of one of my Cayenne's.. is there anything I need to do.. Dry them or anything? also how do I store them?

Thank you for your time :)

paper plates work well. make sure the peppers are fully ripe and just let them dry out. I've heard that 5 weeks of drying ensures that the seeds are dormant and fully ready to use, but like a lot of information I don't know if that's a fact. Just something I heard from a seed distributor.

just don't take the seeds from a pepper that's been in your freezer.

ahh ok.. I had taken the seeds from a pepper that was half way ripe & looked like a critter got to it... ok i will use one that will be ripe in a couple more days, The already ripe ones are in the fridge & freezer (no good I guess). Thank you

The Lowe's here offers 9 cayenne plants for $2.50.

I am covered up with cayennes and they were a complete afterthought.

Just my two cents, but I sprout rare plants that can not be easilly bought.

I don't sprout cayennes, jalapenos, or orange habs.

Lowe's practically gives them away, and they are usually bigger and stronger than the ones I have sprouted.

I bought cayennes, jalapenos, and thai plants from Target, and they had so little heat, that's what got me growing the exotics.

And brought me here :)

Hmmm.

I only buy from Lowe's and a local greenhouse. You have to let peppers age.

I can't imagine target selling a diluted down cayenne, but anything's possible!
