Silly Request

Hey everyone.....

guess its really been a long while since i checked in with THP...... don't really have much of an excuse for being away this time lol....

Seasons Greetings to all btw :D

ok so now for my silly request..... i know i supplied a couple of you guys with the barrackpore 7 seeds....

what i was hoping to do was, if its possible, is that if some of you can send the 'children' seeds from some of these that were grown all over... e.g. aus, usa etc.....

i kinda wanna see if any environmental changes might change the phenotypes when i re-grow back in Trinidad..... hoping that some of you can facilitate my request.... will paypal for seeds, postage etc....

lehme know...PM me.. thanks

I am growing these for 2011 from seeds I got from PepperLover. I'd be more than happy to isolate some and send seed to you. The best guess is around June of 2011 before I'll have seed ready. Have one just started in Hydro and more that will go out in the garden in Spring.

i don't think it's a silly request at all, if you put out an order that all barrackpores be destroyed or to send you royalties, now that would be silly.

it's great to experiment.

i just started my seeds from judy as well, thank you for your initial contribution and in 2011 if i get any pods, i would have no problem sending out an envelope, it would be worth the $1.79 international stamp.

I've been wondering about this kind of stuff myself. The start of our season here in Australia was unusually rainy and overcast and I observed that all my plants from seeds sourced here in Australia didn't like it one bit but the plants I grew from seed sourced elsewhere, such as the UK (and in some cases, the same variety), all thrived. Once our weather cleared up though, I observed a switch; the plants from here started to take off while the other plants slowed down.

I didn't receive any from you earlier but if you want to send me some I send you plenty of seeds from what is grown in 2011 from Missouri. :)

Mate, I will surely send you some when our harvest time comes,Jan/Feb. I have a few healthy looking barrackpores on the go.
I had similar results to Gasificada in regards to Aussie sourced seeds and definately have had much better germination and growth from overseas stocks planted later. Strange. But we did have an un usually long cool spring and the Aussie ones were generally planted earlier.

i'd be happy to send some next season. you sent them to neil. neil made me want them , and i got them! i drop seed in 3 weeks crops should show in may.

Nice idea but I'd think it would take more than a couple years for varieties to adapt and acclimatise to different regions. Results will be interesting

i never was able to get a ripe pod frokm this variety last year but when i do get a ripe pod i'll get seeds and pod to ya. thanx for bein generous in my time of need.

More than agree..... it will take a couple generations to see major changes if any...... but would like to get some started from the earlies.... might just begin to see differences.... who knows...

Hi

I have saved some seeds but unfortunatley they were not isolated. I think Nova said that mine looked a little different to others. There will be a post somewhere with photos. If you are interested I can send you some, just let me know your address again. Don't worry about postage etc you were kind enough to send these to everyone without asking for payment so I am sure everyone is more than happy to do the same for you!

Not to be a debbie-downer, but I don't think the phenotype should change at all based on where they were grown, it is encoded in the DNA and the DNA hasn't had nearly enough time mutate and adapt to the environment....]
