Silver_Surfer's season starts

It is good to see you're alive. The whole garden looks great. What generation is that Jalabanero at? Is the pod shape etc. consistent?

I really appreciate all the compliments everyone. :)

Great garden!

What kind of a beast do you pull the subsoiler with? Love tractor pics.
Same tractor in pic, a Fiat 466DT. 54HP diesel. I'll see about some tractor porn for ya in some future pics. ;)

Hey Josh, I got the seeds from ZanderSpice. I have 2 growing and they are completely different. One has tapered pods and the other globular. I'm not sure if either is correct, but will know how they taste soon. :)

Corn was already tosslin' and okra was gettin' fried at this time last season. May was crazy; the first half record cold and the last half set records for heat. June is hot and dry so far so the drip irrigation gets a workout. The drip tape is performing much, much better than the soaker hose used last season, but it sucks to get plants started earlier and set out so late. I did manage to pick over a pound of pods this AM though. :)
Does the drip tape have to be laid-out on a downward sloping incline and how did you get your plants to get so bushy throughout?

Nope, level, uphill or down it delivers evenly provided your slope isn't too extreme.
The plants and the sun do it all, I just water and feed them occasionally. :)
I'm using Queen Gil drip tape, but other brands should perform similarly.

What is you general spacing for your peppers and maters?

Last season I planted with rows spaced at 40 inches with 30 inch spacing within the row. This season I tightened it up to 30 inch rows with 2' spacing because I wanted to plant more in the same space. ;) I spaced the corn rows really tight with 2' rows and around 4 to 6 inch spacing.

You have the best looking chilies I've ever seen. You should get excellent production out of big bushy plants like that.

Just beautiful, as usual.

And just heard a report that by the end of May last year, OH corn growers had 93% of their crops in. Mid-June now, and they only have 19% in this year. Definitely a freaky weather year across the country. Guess I shouldn't feel too bad about my own little "crop" not being very big!

Wow, I hadn't checked this thread in a awhile, that is an amazing garden. Nice and tight and clean and organized. Hopefully I'll have something like that eventually.

amazingly organised looking setup ... envious of that amount of space .. Haven't had anything like that since I left my parents Farm in NZ.

Great work

After 10 days the garden is showing some progress.
