SKULLBIKERS 2019 Container and Kratky GLOG

I am starting an indoor grow experiment so I might as well start the new years glog at the same time. Today I threw 3 seeds in the dirt(hoping for 66% germination). I will keep 1 in dirt and 1 in Kratky. These will stay in my grow room under my 8000K T8 shoplights from the beginning through fruit.

Boy do I resemble that remark! Same but different; I drove that 26' Uhaul from Fountain Hills AZ to Fargo ND towing a POS--er, I mean Pontiac Montana, with the wife driving my Ram with a 4 and a two year old, no breakdowns or incidents besides having to stop in Souix Falls SD to sign legal docs (our house sold two days after putting it up), and oh yeah, hauled the lot through the T-Rex in Denver....

Glory days, I tell ya. And we're planning a move back the other way....

Luck to you on the acclimation!

I resemble that remark too. In 1992 we left Tucson and came to Alabammy. I drove a 26' Penske and towed a loaded car on a trailer. My wife drove the F-350 and towed another loaded car on another trailer. Even better, I built a 4' stud wall under the high camper shell to convert the F-350 into a box truck.

If you ever get another 26 ft uhaul be sure to get the Ford Super-Duty. I had those for the first two loads and a GMC the last load. The Fords were a dream to drive(and had cruise control). The GMC comparibly was worse than a total piece of shit, no cruise and handled and swayed terribly(I think my knuckles were white the whole way).

My brother rented a 26' uhaul last summer to haul a load down here. Not sure what make the chassis happened to be but it was a garbage truck. It overheated the entire trip. It died 80 miles out and had to be towed by wrecker to the final destination. Uhaul had a crew waiting at the new house to unload it for them. A nice partial compensation and well appreciated after that ordeal.

Im hoping for no frost/freeze so I can breeze straight through the winter growing.

If you're doing the grow in containers you should be good. Just move 'em if the frost is going to happen. My wife has like 25 Pineapple plants, we now keep them near the shop so we can bring them in. I don't think we ever had a frost here at the house last winter, although it did frost in town (7 miles away), we're 200 feet higher which helps. We do bring the plants in when the 3-4 day long fronts drop night time temps into the 40's.

Not likely to have any room to put anything inside but could throw a tarp over stuff. The guy we bought from said there had not been a frost here in a while, likely why we have bananas hanging as they take about 2 years with no frost/freeze.

This morning I have an Emerald Fire Jalapeno and Cherry Bomb up. I soaked 2 Coco coir bricks in 8 gallons of water with cal-mag mixed in.

Here is one of my many bug handlers, it shows up by the germination rack in the morning when the lights come on and the gnats are numerous. Usually by 9:00 am the gnats have all been taken care of.

Had to make up some container mix to start potting up my little seedlings. First expand a couple of inexpensive bricks of coco coir from Walmart with about 8 gallons of water with Cal-Mag mixed in. I usually let it soak overnight.

Here is what the previous expanded batch looked like.

And then mixed with some potting soil.

These nice little peppers will go into that mix.

Now for the tale of the Totally Tubular Rocoto Montufar pepper plant. I think he will be called Monty Montufar (somber thoughts now of his distant cousin Ernest Borg 9 who was sadly left to die). Anyway, Monty started out as most pepper plants do.

Then, a 2 litre Diet Dew bottle told me to Just Dew It, so I prepped a tube for Monty.

Then I installed the tube(which fits perfectly in my repurposed cottage cheese containers).

Then we placed Monty and a friend in the back yard in full sun.

This saga will continue(hopefully)!
