SKULLBIKERS 2019 Container and Kratky GLOG

I am starting an indoor grow experiment so I might as well start the new years glog at the same time. Today I threw 3 seeds in the dirt(hoping for 66% germination). I will keep 1 in dirt and 1 in Kratky. These will stay in my grow room under my 8000K T8 shoplights from the beginning through fruit.

I like that you use cfls for your indoor grow, I felt that I had better results than with leds for some reason. Kudos
I use a few of the curly cfls for single plants but the majority of my indoor grow is under t8 shoplights, most are flourescent(6500K & 8000K), but last year I started replacing bad flourescent tubes with the replacement t8 LED tubes that you just pop into the same fixture(they are 6500K) available at Lowes in contractor packs of 16(cost is about $4.30 per bulb). I get all my shoplight fixtures at Menards for around $10.00 each.

I have to replace an ancient T12 fluorescent fixture in our utility room. I'll be buying a 2-light, 4', T8 fixture from Lowes but I hadn't run across the LED bulbs to fit it in my online shopping. Thanks for posting up this info. Now I can find what I want to get. (If they sell them in 2-packs.)

I know our local stores have the 2 and 4 packs, just a little more money per bulb that way.

Moving things around today. I put the last Rocoto Rio Haullago into a 5 inch pot, I mixed 50/50 coco-coir and MG potting soil. I soaked it with my standard nutrient mix for potted stuff but I may have to change that up because of the coir. Will see how it goes.

I moved the Rocoto Guatamala Orange from the cup into a big net pot.

So far its happy being near its cousin.

And, Rocoto Monzano Orange seems to have a couple of new buddies.(and really needs a haircut)

skullbiker, we went to town yesterday and got my fixture and the LED tubes at Lowe's. I installed it today and I'm very well pleased with it. It's so much brighter than the 2 x 24" T12 bulbs that were in there. Very bright for 30 watts. Thanks for that tip. I didn't really know for sure about tube style LED's for a fluorescent fixture until you posted the Lowe's pic the other day.

A few years ago when the led tube replacements came out the brightest was 5000K. That should have been fine but the plants just would not grow well under them. I first spotted these 6500K led bulbs at lowes last spring, I replaced the 5000K tubes(that are now being useful in my shop)with those and have started replacing my bad 6500K flourescents with them also. So far the plants are doing well under the 6500K leds. Too bad there is no led replacement for my 8000K tubes yet! Then I could cut my electrical use in half with them too.

Well, its -33f here at my house this morning. The upside is that many bugs will be quite dead. Its even -23 in my greenhouse! I have 4 big bags of potting soil outside being debugged also. I read something a few years ago that although temps in the mid 20s(f) will kill aphids, it must get to -20f to kill the eggs. Anyway, just as cold predicted tonite so I may venture out and get a couple more bags of potting soil!

Really great glog and pics.
Love the Rocotos.

Thanks. I am thinking Rocotos may have a heavy presence in my grow this year. Still waiting for more Rocoto seeds that I have ordered from overseas, its a slow process. They really need to be started fairly soon. Will probably only do a handful of superhots this year as I freeze dried enough of those last season to last me for many years.
