Sm1nts2escape's 2014 First Glog

Welcome to my Glog! This will be my first year growing peppers. Last year was my first for growing tomatoes but I grew from starter plants. So with that being said I will probably be making some mistakes and would appreciate your advice if you notice something. Anyways,  I purchased a Secret Jardin Dark Propagator 90 (DP90) 3x2x3 grow tent and two 300w led fixtures off of ebay to get this season started. Everything has broke the surface minus the Brown Bhut (dried pods), Jalabanero (frozen Pods) and  Red Congo (Frozen Pods). I am hoping they will do something soon. One thing that has me puzzled is the Blue/purple tint that has developed on say 65% of my pepper seedlings. I don't know if I should be concerned but they are still kicking so I am just going to go with it.  Also I noticed the peppers that were transferred to Jiffy seed starting soil seem to be growing much faster than the sprouts that are a week older in the Miracle grow soil.

Wow, your plants are looking great!  Where are those "giant ghosties" from?  They look very interesting.

Yellow Bhut is looking very nice too.  Great job with the plants...

Thanks! I got the seed from a friend. They are supposed to have come from these pods but they aren't that big yet and have pronounced tails. Thinking I got some type of cross...

I'm curious about the giant bhut's too. The jolokia is my favourite tasting pepper. It would be great if the larger pods tasted the same and had the same heat.

I've never actually had a fresh Bhut or these so I have no idea yet. I have only had sauces and dried pods before. I will let you know!

Man those are big! Hope they grow true for you. I'd really appreciate it if you could let me know how they taste. I'm still waiting on having my first fresh bhut as well. Really looking forward to it.

Ok, they look like one of the kinds of bhuts i'm growing from pepperlover or maybe similar to the naga king, just a little more slim.  I have some bhuts I'm growin that I call pale bhuts, because they grow real pale like that too, but going back through the threads I think they may really be bih jolokia... but whatever, who the hell knows anymore

I wish I knew what they actually were. That's the problem with getting seed from backyard garden growers and why I haven't tried to get in on those seed swap mailing list. You never really know what you are actually getting. Either way I am happy with the looks of them. Hopefully they taste good too.

O and this Bhut is growing nothing like Judy's regular Red Bhut or Monster Naga. The monster Naga from Judy I am growing as well and it is a shorter plant so far and no where near as vigorous as well as way different looking pods. The leaves are much larger on her reg. Bhut and the stem is darker and stronger. The stem on this one is very light green and sort of weak. I had to stake this plant up because of it. I actually had two of them but lost one due to the weak stem (wilted) as it couldn't handle the transplant into the sun.

Thanks man! I tried to grow a variety to try and find what I like best etc. Whatever you want seeds of let me know Thirdcoasttx. I just cut up one of the red peppers that is supposed to be a yellow primo deseeded it, put it in a bowl of spicy noodles and it is waaay hot... Took my breath away lol. I have been freezing the peppers cause I am going to make sauces and cook with most of them. I have half of a gallon bag full so far. Next year I will pay better attention with the labels when starting the seed. Got them mixed up a bit this year when some didn't want to start so I flipped the starters over and put seeds in them again as well as reorganized the tray.

I know what you feel, I've done a similar mistake and now I'm playing a guessing game with half my plants.
A bit more attention would have saved so much grief
