Sophomore grow 2014

I will try to keep this updated once a week.My first season was a lot of trial and error. If I had a problem I came directly to the HP for advice to solve plant issues and what to do with the pods harvested, for that I thank you all.I still was not confident I could start from seeds so along with the plants in my closet I will be getting a few from Chillyplants. They sent some very very healthy peppers to me last spring.I also overwintered 6 plants from 2013,3 went to pepper Heaven.

Could not close 2013 without showing my wall of shame,or fame.We will find out when all my fermenting jars get turned into sauce. ;)

Definite un-like on the storm damage Randy... :( Hope you can save most of the pods and get them to ripen in the bag. You've got some great color on your pods now. The sausages look killer, and the peppers in your pickled eggs look like they'll be as much as you can handle... you might be the only one to eat them unless you have some chilihead friends!

Keep up the good great work!

Bummer about losing that branch, certainly was loaded with pods. Does the banana or apple help with the ripening process?
I dont know the science behind it,but it seems to work Terry.
Thanks for stopping in guys and checking things out and giving the advise.Went out for a pull today and my 7pot X choco's look very much like Jays Red.But Jays have the coolest tail. ;)

Thanks Scott and Terry.Next year I will be giving more space. The plants are up to 6ft and overlapping everything. It's a good problem to have, but crawling thru the jungle and reaching to harvest has me knocking pods off.I hate dropping pods from my incompetence.

Can't wait to make chili, I have a new recipe to try. A friend who placed in the Womens event shared with me.

Yours sure looks good!

Thanks Scott,I use real beans and soak them overnight.Helps with the thicker chili I love. Also black beans, are one of my favs.Chili with home grown heat is hard to beat. I cook my chili like my meat on a smoker,(low and slow).

Cool fronts are on the way! We're looking at a 10° drop at the end of the week!

I know you're not ready, but we are here.

Chili is on the menu soon!

    THE END IS NEAR.Boooooooooooo
Left work early pulled anything with some good color.Put them in cardboard boxes to see if I  can ripen a little more.Garden hose is ready to spray at 4am Saturday Morning with lows around freezing here.I trimmed of lot of flower growth last weekend and it opened up the plants.Tons of pods I would luv to get finished in the next month. So get thru the cold morning and I think I can make out pretty good.

Have some extra time to play around and experiment with drying times on whole pods. ;)

That is great.  Glad she enjoys it.  Hopefully this cold weather is short lived for you guys, I hope to get thru mid October here.

Randy,

Are you going to setup a sprinkler? Saved my garden one year that way. Even if things ice up, let it run until the ice melts.

Fingers are crossed for ya bro!

BTW, just a killa harvest there!

Good luck with the low overnight temps Randy... think you might set up some low row covers over your plants to hold in some of the heat from the day before?

You're getting some really excellent pulls too! Hopefully you get all that pepper love in and stored away before hard frost. We're pullin' for ya!

Thanks guys for the support.I will be the sprinkler,I am up by 4am anyway and between then and 7am will be the toughest.I will go spot spray and check every half hour until I see the Sun.I am glad it is Saturday,no work and I can focus on the task at hand. ;)

Ok,sprayed the plants it's 35 degrees and dropping.Need to make it to 8am and the morning sun.Nothing better to do then make some pastrami for the football games today.Time to fire up the smoker,

Nice pastrami Randy! I'm gonna have to give that one a try some day!

Man, you already got frost?! Boo, hiss! :(  Unfortunately, that means I'm not too far behind you... I'd better get a move on in my preparations for winter.

Take care bro!

No sweat. The warmest part of the yard is the peppers.I do believe hosing them with water helped
    Thanks guys.
