Sophomore grow 2014

I will try to keep this updated once a week.My first season was a lot of trial and error. If I had a problem I came directly to the HP for advice to solve plant issues and what to do with the pods harvested, for that I thank you all.I still was not confident I could start from seeds so along with the plants in my closet I will be getting a few from Chillyplants. They sent some very very healthy peppers to me last spring.I also overwintered 6 plants from 2013,3 went to pepper Heaven.

Glad the ladies are still hangin'!
Yea Scott,if I can squeeze 3 to 4 more weeks out of them to finish a second wind of pods,I will have been truly blessed. This season I did not have a lot of adversity,so it made me look like a better gardener than I really am.Being able to kick ideas around our pepper friends and you,is as important and enjoyable as the actual growing and harvesting. We are not just learning the growing part,we are learning about peoples little slice of life in their part of the world.
  Cheers Buddy :P

Yeah, I enjoy the mini conversations. I know I pick up good info from most of the glogs. We all have to do things a bit different as we have different soils, climates and techniques. And I couldn't have said it any better than you just did.

I hope you get that 4 weeks!

Sad I jumped in on this one late, just read through the whole thing!

Great setup, beautiful work on the much and overall setup - and a great harvest at the end to reward you for your tender care and attention.

Your plants looked incredibly healthy through the whole grow, I'm thoroughly impressed.

I might end up shading my plants like you as well.

Nice haul Randy. Real nice production from your plants. Are you going to smoke and then make powder out of all of those?

Thanks for the good vibes my friends.I got a package from Joyner Friday and did some powder sampling.
I posted this in Chris's thread but wanted you guys to see the wide selection I got.Plus a few whole pods. :shh:

all the powders had their own nice flavor,I will probably transfer them to small shakers as I did more dumping then spreading out of the baggies. ;)

Yup... Chris has some great product... good on him for sharing! The season may be winding down, but your pulls have been looking outstanding Randy! I've been smoking and dehydrating the bulk of my Chinense pods too. Our Tabascos look about the same... I'm thinking I'm gonna have to cut mine down soon and hang it up from the basement ceiling to finish ripening. Any that don't ripen after a week will be pickled in brine.    Cheers!

Thanks guys, and yes Rick I have tons of tabasco pods that are more stubborn then any peppers I have grown.I make take a page out of your book and follow suit. ;)

Those poppers look great.  The only problem I have with Joyners powders is that I did not order enough!!!    We really like the smoked Thai powder and will be ordering more.

Small batch of fresh sauce.Turned out great, used less liquid so the sauce has a better flavor profile. It was a bitch getting it to go thru the funnel into jars.I used 20 peppers for 24 5oz bottles.A big punch but it turned out good.
Yellow morugas,cantalope,pineapple,carrots,onions,garlic fresh ginger,lime juice,a little vinegar,xanthum gum,garlic salt,maple syrup and honey.
the pic sucked
