SownSeeds 2012 grow season.

Hello all , well its that time of year for us aussies to get the camera out and do some happy snaps, here is my grow list for this coming season.

First thing's first id like to say thanks to a few members from THP for sending me some of there seeds to grow this season.

The new heat mat all fired up with some jiffys in , i did try both soil and jiffys and found i got better germ rates with jiffys and it was a few days faster to germinate.

After looking at how ugly this old shelf looked i went down to the local bunnings to get some wood to make new shelving to match the study furniture .

This is a small light i bought for 20 bucks and decided to add a few CFL bulb holders to it and a switch.

Now with the timber frame i made for it the light can slide in any one of the two bottom shelves.

]Hi mate , yeh i did sell 4 , i had way to many butch t plants as im growing alot of plants from seed that ppl on THP have sent me , so i sold 4 plants to help buy more potting soil for all my babys.
They were seeds from my plants from last year and i put down some seeds just to see what the germination was like on them and they all germinated, i got plenty of seeds that you can have if you want some?

That is a great idea Todd! I wish I had the space and the weather to sell young plants. It would help cover the costs of soil, etc.

LOl Conor thats the problem i have , you guys on here have sent me so many seeds to grow , i have to many seedlings for the amount of space that i have , at the start of the season i had only about 4 types from last season that i kept seeds from , so i threw down some butch seeds to see what the germination rates were like , and being fresh seeds they all germinated, so to make a bit of room and to get some bucks to buy a trailer load of potting soil i sold a few. , and the organic potting soil is expensive.
I only wish i could sell the motherinlaw for some bucks to buy some more plastic pots.

And check these funky looking plants out , they are Devils Tongue White , all 8 plants look the same with funky looking leaves, im not sure if its normal or not ? but the devils Tongue yellow look normal.

If all plants share the same growing medium and conditions this can be related to this variety being more sensitive to pH. You may try to add some calcium as a quick fix.

Hi Datil, thanks for your comment mate, i will be potting all these up into new and bigger pots in the next few days so ill see if the new soil make some change in the way they look, Kstrain is growing this same strain and said his look the same.

Can't be sure but I think I've read that when the leaves curl like that its the plants reaction to too much light or water or something. Are these ones still under lights? if so how close are the lights and how long is their cycle?

Hi moo , all of these plants are still under fluros inside the house , but so are many others and its only the devils t whites that seem to be doing this , but im going to pot them up and see how they go .

I hope you find an answer for this soon when mine arrive they will be in similar conditions, i bought that CFL light and will be getting those jiffy things soon.

Need to peroxide treat my ones outside looks like its got some contagious problem.

Hi mate , it takes about 5 days to get seeds to WA from junglerain so you should get yours today or tuesday, and ill post some of mine today so you will prolly get them tomoz .

Thanks Moo, yeh i kinda bit of more than i can chew i think , i need another trailer full of potting soil, as i have quite a few tomatos that im growing in pots as well.
Still id rather be spending my money on potting soil than throwing it across the bar on alcohol at the pub , least thats what i tell my wife.

Hello fellow chilli freaks, just a few update pics now that i have started to pot my plants up into there final pots.

Naga Purple

Yellow 7 Pot that i over wintered and trimed back , just starting to grow again.

Final pot size.

This is a small raised garden bed i made from the rubbish pile on a jobsite, cost me $3.50 for a pack of teck screws.

My fence i made from bread crates to stop the dogs from digging in the veggie garden down one side of the house.

My daughter helping out with the tomatos.
