Did anyone watch this? I thought it was awesomely boring. 3 hours of a ballon going up, and then when the door finally opened it was amazing to see him stand on the edge and then have the nerve to jump. And not to mention the fact that he went a little over 800 mph! I don't know I thought it was really cool.
 
Didn't sink in til I saw the curvature of the earth!!! Ridiculous!!!! That stunt will be hard to top. Congrats to Red Bull for the greatest ad ever!
 
Yip, he really didnt have much of a choice but to jump at that point, but that had to be 1 helluva rush to stand there and see that, then take that 1st step, my hats off to him!!!
 
Pretty insane. Agree with Pr0digal that it will be a hard stunt to top. 800+ mph, and just a bit over 4 minutes to travel about 22 miles before he popped his chute.
 
I thought Red Bull gave you wings? This dude fell like a rock.
At 800+ mph and the earths atmosphere, I know he said because of the pressurize suit he couldn't feel the air movement, but could he feel the friction moving through the atmosphere? I mean, how come he didn't light up like a comet? With balls that big you would think...

At the beginning there was no atmosphere, he had almost zero drag which is how he reached 833.9 MPH. I think the atmosphere that would do the burning is something like 50-60 miles above the surface, he was only at 26.

Yeah, I went and looked it up as to what they did to the suit to make it special and it seems they were more concerned with freezing temps than heat. Said it was built to withstand 100 F to -70 F.
Anybody watch the film from the cameras he had strapped to him? I haven't, just wonder if there were any good shots before or after his tumble.
 
yup, this was awesome. me and the wife watched the whole thing even the 2 hour baloon ride. i found the whole thing very intresting.
