Love that pic of the plants in the sun, but not too far from shelter!
THE POPPERS MADE ME HUNGRY : ) Have a great Sunday, my friend.
:woohoo:
 Oh, dude, who's at the top of the page?!

Shane they are loving the outdoors looking great I just got hit today with aphids so hopefully tomorrow I could see them dead and gone can not wait until we start getting some stable weather now. Good luck tomorrow through the rain if you get hit like here.

Funny how we end up there! They're back in their hot house now...the cold and rain is moving in. Still in the 60's but really windy out and getting cooler but its nice and toasty in their appartment.

sorry to hear about your grafts... are they back in the shade? or under lights? are they staying moist enough at the graft site?
Yeah, I left them alone for a day or so and checked in to find all 3 looking like crap...They are all out from under the lights, but I really think they're done.

Yeah...it is moving in now. At least this time its not going to get AS cold. I'm sure it'll slow them down a little, but they'll be fine through this one temp wise...the wind is a different story! Its really kicking here. Luckily most of my plants are somewhat sheltered by the wood fence and nearby shrubs.

A few pics from before the rain set in today...

Still no movement in the Big Jims....Wonder whats up there??? Almost all my annuums popped quicker than two weeks, but I do have a new addition...One of the two Aji Amarillos I started had popped and is in cotys. I think I might convert two more of those military containers to planters. I have enough soil to fill them and more than enough plants so why not??? Another indoor and outdoor thorough aphid inspection and their #s have been cut down but I still find live ones...their not all I found though...

P1000625.jpg

Found another soldier out there today...this little dude was feisty! He's patrolling on an Aji Omnicolor leaf...

P1000618.jpg

Goat's Weed pod jet black now. This overwinter plant has some issues, Sprayed it with neem oil hope it snaps out of it...

P1000617.jpg

First Pequin pod...many MANY more to follow I hope. Both of my remaining pequins are loaded with blooms.
P1000615.jpg

My overwinters are loaded down with Jals...
P1000614.jpg

Cayennes were unhappy for a few weeks after transplant, but they are starting to throw out new buds and put some size on the pods...

P1000613.jpg

A few more Cayennes with some of the overwinter small Jals in the background...

P1000612.jpg

The Mucho Nacos are really impressive! They are really throwing out the pods in spite of the sub optimal weather! This one is already larger than the average Jalapeno at just over 3" and still growing...

P1000611.jpg

More Mucho Nachos...won't be long to the first home grown poppers are made!

P1000620.jpg

These are all the indoor plants after their aphid bath today. The three in front lft to rt Jalapeno, Peruvian White Hab and the new Aji Amarillo all got potted or potted up today as well...

Token non Pepper pic...supersweet 100 vf hybrid.

I think my grafts have all bit the dust. They are still hanging in, but they're really not looking good. Oh well, back to the drawing board! Things are really starting to change around here, and moving quick. The weather still is not cooperating, A cold front is moving in tonight, but lows are still only going to be in the mid to upper 40's so I think were good. Even the in ground supers are starting to make a turnaround. Hopefully they'll be a little more photogenic next weekend!

Thanks for stopping by everyone,
Shane

Got some great looking pod shots there Shane. It is only gonna keep on getting better with that platoon of plants ya got ready to go into the ground.

Oh, dude, I'm bummed! They were lookin' so promising.
My last two clones are looking like death as well. I think
I neglected them a little or something. I hope your grafts
surprise you and that you don't leave jcr as the only Guru
of Graft!

Take care, Shane - your plants look great, a little sunny,
warm weather will really make them shine. The pot-ups
look good, too! You are still themaster, my man!

There's still a tiny bit of hope on one of the grafts I did...we shall see. I swear that the indoor plants grow as you watch them. I almost wish I could just keep them in here under the lights! I'm gonna prolong it as long as I can, but sooner or later they will get kicked out...or I will according to momma.

I do...just need to find the ground for them to go in! Lol, I think I got it figured out, and if not...I got a tiller.

hopefully they turn around before she kicks you out... I think you'd miss her  .

I think even if they fail, and I'm not giving up on them yet, that He's still a graft guru... I attribute part of my success to Shane... Several of the things I've done and tried are directly as a result of something You've said Shane... So  even if its not at your house, you still are partly responsible for a successful pepper graft.

That's right! Here's to the Masters of Graft!
It's great to see you guys in action, and I'm looking forward to a lot more.
Any idea what shocked your grafts, Shane?

Hope that tiny bit of hope turns your Grafts around! Otherwise your plants are looking awesome! Even you Aphid farms look healthy ;) . Hope you can knock those bastard out!

No...They were all three in different lighting conditions and different stages of recovery. One had been cut loose for over a week, one for a few days and one still had the root attached??? Don't know what hit them. Still the tiniest bit of hope for 1 of them...sure that will be gone when I get home. Too much good stuff going on around here for me to worry too much about them! One made it almost 2 weeks! May some sort of rejection going on???

Pheewww... You are updating way too fast for me. Amazing how many Glogs there are this year. Nearly impossible to look through them all. Your plants are looking stellar. I have yet to see any pests on my plants but I can see it happening. The good weather we had made me alittle greedy. I was bringing my plants outside whenever possible. Keeping my fingers crossed. Good luck with the battle.

I wonder...

I know in people you can end up with Graft VS Host disease... Additionally people who have recieved an organ transplant have to be on anti-rejection drugs... I wonder if there is a similar reaction in peppers when grafting interspecificaly. I would have expected greater difficulty if we were grafting some of the un-domesticated varieties... un-matched chromosomal count and that sort of thing... but I figured within the Annum L complex there wouldn't be much trouble...

Well if it is that sort of an issue, then perhaps mine is dead already as well.

Yeah, one of mine was chinense/chinense (dead) and two chinense scion to annuum host (one dead one ???) I didn't take enough precautions with sterilization/prep I think. One of the ones that died still had roots attached??? I may try again. Have to wait and see. Tired of starting seeds for now.

Yeah, sorry. I know I get kind of update happy, I really have 4 different grows going on with the indoor/outdoor greenhouse/outdoor inground and grafts. Long weekend and I was bored and the result is an extra few pages of glog! Thanks for taking the time!

Two weeks is a long time in these circumstances! The whole issue
of rejection of scion by host is one I hadn't even thought of.

I personally enjoy every aspect of gardening - except weeding. I'm considering buying some of that plastic weed guard material... then covering all of it with hay (too keep it from baking the roots). It will be interesting to see what happens none the less.

aye... Which means it may not have been rejection. It still could have been a virus or something I suppose... Two are dead for sure Shane?

That is the one that is still a question mark too...the coty's are curlying and drying out, but he true leaves are still looking ok...ish.

The two that are dead are both ones that I didn't use the healthiest host for...may have been part of the problem. I think the fatalii roots started to die around the time I cut the little yellow bhuts roots loose. The nodes on the host had started to dry up. The other one is a sickly little piquin I used as a test plant that got murdered by slugs and cold and was doing terrible. I dug it up and brough it inside with only 3 true leaves remaining on it. I may try again with those because they were ones that actually would have interesting grafts...there is still slim hope for the lanternapeno.

murderer.

Yup...and sometimes I kill plants too! Hmmmm I am pretty sure I have your address!!! Hey, succulent should be arriving today/tomorrow, I think I sent it Friday. Will need to be opened and cared for I'm sure. I sent it roots and all.
