as always..good updates...i think i wanna do the before and after updates...looks cooler.....too bad i worked this weekend..with my family in coronado..i wouldve been able to get a tour of your place

You need to quit work! I like the before and afters...I read back through the glog every now and then and looking at some of the starting pics its hard to believe they've come this far!

Wow looking great man. That purple bhut is the poster child for a Bhut plant. I didn't even read the description and could tell it was a Bhut. Tons of plants and pods man, you got great things going.

Thanks! Those 2 Bhuts are looking awesome! They have looked great since they sprouted. I wish the purple didn't drain out of their leaves, but there's still a hint. I gave a couple plants away too and one those has about a 3" pod on it already! Grrrrrr....mine are catching up though!

Thanks for checking in!

Shane

I love that weather vane trellis with the tomatoes. I think I'll need to give the Purple Bhuts a shot eventually, they're nice looking plants. I'll be wishing for SoCal weather soon enough, we're expected to hit 100 in the next couple days... peppers are about the only thing that tolerate our summers well.

Looking forward to your season's progress.

your plants is doing great and your tomato trellis is awesome...as for me my plants have to deal with the 40mph wind for the whole week and flip my small greenhouse with almost 30baby plants inside and i cant see them till tommorow afternoon :(...my mom told me that everything fell and most of them broke

Great pics, Shane! Isn't it great to see how much things grow
when you are away for a few days! Your pics were a real treat,
as always. Your gettin' pod porn! I can hardly wait to get some
pics of something besides plants in 6" pots!

Hope you enjoyed the weekend with your family, bro.
Have a good week.

Nice before and after pics! I can't wait till I can show that will my peppers. Now if they only grew like my hops. I think those things grew another 3-4 ft just this week!

I can imagine... I have a hop bed I planted with Hallertauers at my Mom's place about fifteen years ago. They're halfway to the eaves of a two story barn now.

Wow Shane your plants are starting to look like works of art. I can't believe how fast they are growing. :onfire:

Hope you are having a relaxing weekend :drunk:

The Purple Bhuts are a trip! Every other chinense has put out a couple dozen flowers before they started producing pollen. Both of my purple bhut plants put out pollen and pods on their very first blooms! They are about to be LOADED down with pods...can't wait! Needless to say, once I saw the abundance of pollen I shared it with the rest of my chinenses! So first pods will probably all be a Purple Bhut X.

I am inland a little bit, and have a little altitude at my casa. So we get pretty damn hot by day, and cold by night year round. I moved out of the frost free coastal area about 3 years ago...not regretting it, but pepper growing would sure be better down there.

Yeah...read about your windstorm on you glog. Hope someone at least picked up the pieces for you. If they at least stood them upright and gave them a little drink, I am sure they'll be fine.

The difference in the plants is amazing when you are away a week. Glad momma is taking good care of them for me...of coarse I don't give her much of a choice, I call and check in on their care a couple time a day. Morning to ensure they get their daily drink and evening to walk my son through the tomato/bean harvest and make sure nothing is wilting too bad.

Yeah...I think the same thing about the tomatoes, beans, pumpkins and sunflowers...seems as though they all grow a foot a day! I was surfing back through looking for a specific pic and thought it would be cool to take some shots from a similar vantage for comparison.

They're definitely doing me proud! In spite of the fact that the aphids are still trying to take over. They are freakin everywhere...every bud, bloom and leaf is covered in the little bastards! The plants are finally just starting to shrug them off...but I am not.

I hired me another 1500 gardener/exterminators today!

Some more patrolling on the Red Lantern Hab...

P1010395.jpg

I think this is another shot of the Red lantern...

Every plant got a heaping helping of these guys just before dark tonight. I only put about half of the 1500 out today, will put the rest out next weekend.

And the small harvest shot...not quite as nice as Jamie's, but its a start!
P1010390.jpg

First of my Jet Star Hybrids, and a nice little pull of the Supersweet vf100 Cherry tomatoes along with me first Pequin of the season!

P1010392.jpg

Pequin Chiapas...Thanks Griff! Little different than the usual Pequin. May be a cross??? Regardless, I popped this little dude right after the photo and it was wonderful....and :hot: !

Stopped by the local nursery today and was surprised to find Manzano, Pequin, several Naga varieties, Goats Weed, Fatalii, Bhuts (Yellow and Red), 7 Pot Jonah and Douglah, Scotch Bonnets...and many more, but only the Manzanos looked healthy. The rest looked stunted and abused. May go back tomorrow and grab a few more Manzano plants tomorrow after I take my son fishing!

Enjoy your Memorial day folks!
Shane

Hi Shane, nice pics as usual.
What are you doing with all that hops? :drunk:
These days I give them away. I brewed beer for about 25 years, but let it go and started growing chiles instead. I found out that I had too many "whiskey friends" that would come around to help me drink the beer, but wouldn't pony up to to help pay for the next batch. Chiles are safer that way... :hell: . My wife takes the vines and makes wreath forms while they're still green and pliable, then dries them out and gives them away as Christmas presents.

I hired me another 1500 gardener/exterminators today!

Very cool! This year I find my biggest critter problem is beetle grubs. Bonnie's solution of using bamboo skewers to keep cutworms at bay seems to work, but beetle grubs are eating my small plants roots. I'll go outside and look in the garden and see a few plants wilted in place. Poke them and you find the roots are gone... the grubs eat them up to the soil surface, then move on to the next unless you can find them in the soil and crush them. The garden is planted so it'll be hard to treat the problem this year, but next spring when I spade in my soil amendments, I'm going to add some milky spore and/or BT to make the little buggers fatally ill.

May go back tomorrow and grab a few more Manzano plants tomorrow after I take my son fishing!

Good luck fishing Chief! I'm going out this afternoon myself. What do you go for? My enthusiasms seem to come and go sometimes, but I've been fishing since I was able to say my own name. These days I fly fish on freshwater rivers and lakes and surf cast with a spinning rig and swimming plugs or chunk bait for Striped Bass and Bluefish.

Enjoy your Memorial day folks!

The same to yourself and your family. Cheers

It could possibly be but I have no idea what it is supposed to look like. I haven't grown them out. I got them thrown in as a bonus with some 7 pots from another member. Might have to plant some now.

Found this.

Its who I actually got them from too.

Enjoy your memorial day also!

Near to far 5 gallons...Brain, Infinity, Devil's Tongue Brown, Douglah, Manzano (7 Gallon), Whit Bhut, Then a whole gaggle of plants in the 2 green ones...

With that kind of firepower, even your dog knows to steer clear!!

Meanwhile, as you grow monsters, I had to battle cold and lotta plant shuffling this month. I ALMOST used your idea to deploy Christmas lights for warmth in my little hoop house, but settled on a small electric heater. Would have been quite strange and festive in that area. Gonna have to hide the power bill this month!

Excellent job on your grow and your glog....

Another small harvest...

P1010405.jpg

Finally put my last non ornamental of the season in the ground...(unless I get some more) Scotch Bonnet (MJDiamond)

P1010406.jpg

and his two siblings...also some of the Scotch Bonnets that Matt sent. These were from my barracks grow! About perfect with the exception of some pot pinch!

P1010412.jpg

My son with the Goat's weed. He's 5'5" so the plant minus pot is probably about 3.5 feet. I just gave it the 5 gallon container (was in a 2 gallon), so should see some more new growth.

P1010413.jpg

Its covered in pods...a few are kinda wonky like this one...

P1010400.jpg

New pods daily on the omnicolor...can't wait till they start showing some color!

P1010416.jpg

Here's the group photo...

Hoping for some super pod photos next weekend...got some real promising looking pods forming. Still too early to tell if they will stick. This part of the grow is kinda like watching paint dry. Still be a while before I get any ripe supers...should be a real big harvest of annuums next weekend. Thinking it may be time for some Rellenos!

Thanks for stopping in...see you all next weekend!
Shane

Looks great Shane my supers are taking their sweet time to change and some are hating the heat and are just wilting crazy when I look at my 7 pot chaguanes #2 doing awesome and the other one being a bum. O and I started some new seeds couldn't help it lol.

Awesome shane! Im sure your harvest are gonna keep picking up steam over the next few months till you dont even know what to do with them! And that is a huge ladybug army you got goin on! shouldnt take them long to clear that place out!

Lookin great Shane! I am pretty jealous of that goat's weed, mine is kinda just...meh....hasn't moved at all. Hopin a spot of good weather will jump start it.

Good luck with your last babies in the ground!

And I am lovin that Lady Bug army!
