Shane, that Tepin is HUGE!!! Lol. Seriously tho looking good my friend. You gonna make some powder outta them Devils tongue browns? If you get enough of them Purple Bhuts I would love to try one for ya. (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) :D

Wow, I fell behind... Looking great, and yeah I'll chime in with the comments about how thick/bushy your plants look. Nice job exposing them to the hail (if I remember correctly). Unorthodox, but you proved us wrong  . That will now be a cutting edge organic growing method.
Also, that box looks awesome. I want one when you're done with Paul's.

Dang Shane, I miss a few days of your grow log and look what I come back to! Pods everywhere friend, glad things are really picking up for you!! :D Plants are all looking crazy healthy, great job!

Yup...HUGE tepin. I will be making powder out of most of these...dunno if I'll get enough off any specific type to make solo batches, but we'll see. They purples ripen to red, and once they do I'll send you a couple!

Easy to fall behind when I am a compulsive updater! Just trying to keep up with Paul! I think I am 5 pages behind??? The hail was my secret weapon! Just have to schedule some each May! I don't do the boxes that often, too OCD and stress too much over it!

Things are doing right for me right now...still got some sick ones out there, but we'll have to wait and see how they do I guess??? Most of them are really happy right now, so I am happy right now!!! :P

Little update...first a before and after...
P1000706.jpg

Big Jims May 7th...

P1010565.jpg

Big Jim's today in the white buckets...

P1010564.jpg

Finally getting some color on the Omnicolor

P1010563.jpg

Found a bunch of new pods today including this cool looking little 7 Pot

P1010561.jpg

A few of the Mucho Nachos are starting to ripen up! These guys are pretty mild if picked early and :hot: when allowed to turn!

P1010562.jpg

Not too hard to figure out why I put a few more of these in the ground! Almost popper time

Now for the main subject of the post...this little guy is one of the Pequin Chiapas from the seeds Griff sent me back in January...
P1010560.jpg

Looks very pequin from here...

...however the pods look very far from pequin??? Way too big and wrinkled...
P1010558.jpg

P1010559.jpg

P1010557.jpg

and it is freaking LOADED! Hundreds of pods on this one little plant! The other plant's pods are similar, but not as chinense looking as these guys. I need to pull one and see if I taste any chinense in them...don't remember any from the only I've eaten from the other plant. If you look closely at the stem caps they are smooth, and while large, annuums typically have "teeth" or lobes. Interesting plant that has me pretty excited. Any Thoughts???

Thanks for checking in folks! I will have a bajillioin seeds off this guy to share so we can see if it grows true next generation...
Stand by for compulsive uploads!
Shane

Okay Mr. Compulsive. Nice pics - the 'pequin' pods look like little mini super hots!
I may have a page or two more, but your views are leaving me in the dust, bro :P
Looks like those Big Jims have been working out - crazy growth!

Have a good weekend upcoming, brothah!

Thanks Paul! They sure do! They are doing really well, and the pods are already about double the size of the last time I posted! Think your catching me on view count...won't be long!

Here are a few more pics...
P1010566.jpg

Today's harvest shot...been pulling a handful a day from my Cherry tomatoes, and about a dozen a week off my Jals. Going to do a large harvest on the Mucho Nachos this weekend for some poppers! If you look closely you will see one of the Jals with a stigma stinger...

P1010567.jpg

Here's a closeup...pretty cool how this plant does this with almost every pod.

P1010569.jpg

Went ahead and pulled one of the "pequins"

P1010570.jpg

Seed count was relatively low by Pequin standards and there was a definite hint of chinense aroma and taste, however the heat was pretty unimpressive. I hope that will change with mature pods!

Done for now! I promise!!!................unless I take some more pics!
Shane

Excellent............Shane have you been brushing up on your photo skills?......Let me answer that.....actually, I think you're teaching the class!

Great work my man.....I don't even need my cheater reading glasses to see the clarity, (I already know the efforts there)....wonderful photos

and outstanding looking plants. Your seasons really taking off. No aphid nor hail storm can stop you now...........

I can use some of the Big Jim's on the grill tonite......I've got the Red Snapper, were doing it Vera Cruz style, but those chilli's would just do the trick!

Your blog updates are looking tops!

Greg

Sounds good Shane, I bet those buggers are gonna be Hot. So the grow looks great brother, keep up the great work! Can't wait to see pics of some poppers. Emon

nice harvests... You have some serious woodworking skills my friend...

I'm going to be retiring in about 30 years... Mind making me one too? lol

The local nursery here in my town says "yeah we stock ALL the peppers that exist"... I said "all"they replied "yeah, you know jalapeno, cayenne, habanero, and bell... All them. "

They did make some nice looking plants... Though they don't put them out in full sun for some reason.

Nice work Shane.
I'm still laughin about the pepper spray.....awesome.
You will like the Devil's Tongue Brown-mine had a pretty interesting taste, but the pods started out "in the white"....
Looks like a very nice mystery suprise....
AND YES I HAVE SEPARATION ANXIETY! :onfire: (from my plants!)

Short day at work, so I got home in time to feed all the plants (compost/worm tea mixed with 1/2 strength water soluble plant food) , and make a top dressing for my inground plants. I used 2 parts compost (Kellogg), 2 parts garden soil(Kellogg), 1 part worm castings)my own), 1 part peat moss and about a 1/4 part composted chicken manure. Unfortunately I used up all my own compost in prepping the beds, the stuff from Kellogg looks identical to their "garden soil" with the exception of the fact that you could tell it was starting to break down. I bought the stuff to make some potting soil, made a few pots worth for some ornamentals, but don't like the look and feel of it, so I will be mulching with it instead. I also took a few snaps of some pods...some I've shown before, some are NEW!!!

P1010584.jpg

Devil's Tongue Brown...I've shown this one before, but its such a cool pod I couldn't help it!

P1010583.jpg

Same pod with my dirty digits in there for reference...

P1010582.jpg

Shown this guy before as well Black Naga...getting nice and gnarly. Wrinkled head to toe. Almost discarded this plant glad now I decided to keep it! 5 or so pods on this little guy and growing/setting like crazy!

P1010578.jpg

7 Pot with some sideways action! This plant is loaded...maybe 20 or so pods and more every day...

P1010577.jpg

Yellow Bhuts...dozens of little pods on this dude!

P1010575.jpg

Yellow 7 Pot...both the inground and container plants are starting to load up...

P1010573.jpg

Finally! Chocolate Habanero is podding up!

P1010574.jpg

Wider angle...every bloom setting!!! Have 3 of these going the other two are inground and just starting set pods as well...going to make some killer powder and bbq sauce!

P1010576.jpg

"White" Bhut...they're really just a light geen phase followed by a darker green then red, but should still be a cool looking plant! Both the inground and containers are setting a ton of pods...

P1010586.jpg

First Red Bhut to set!!! Finally!!! You see the freaking aphids hiding in the background? Grrrrrrrr! Will it ever end???

More to follow! 10's the limit!

Shane

Thought that Devil's Tongue was pretty large, until the shot with your fingers in it! Love the way the Choc. Hab. still has its petals on surrounding the pods. Can't wait till mine starts podding up. I've got a regular, and a long podded version growing.

Man those aphids are relentless aren't they?

Okay, more pics please :)

Great shots of your babies Shane. Looks like everything is loading up. Don't let the aphids get you down. This time of year they are very persistant. I have been squishing the bastards all evening :mope:

Thanks man! Just hit the ingrounds with some Neem, the containers are doing pretty good. Saving the last of the Bonide for an emergency!

All the nursery plants are starting to snap out of their overwater funk that they came home with...
