stc's comeback down south grow...

Hey THP...been a while and much has changed for me and my family. We accepted orders to Charleston, SC and now reside in a small town just north of there called Moncks Corner. I haven't really had a grow in three years, so it is going to be nice getting back out in the dirt. My modest list thus far:

Red Brain Strain 7 pot:   coheed
Orange Brain Strain 7 pot: gnslngr
7 pot Monster Infinity: gnslngr
Trinidad Scorpion Chocolate: gnslngr
Reaper
Charrapita Yellow
Primo X (my cross)
Jay's Peach Ghost Scorpion
Jay's Red Ghost Scorpion
Bhut Orange Copenhagen
SB7J: Romy 6???
Naga Reaper
Fatalii
7 Pot Primo
7 Pot Barrackpore
Large Yellow Brain Strain
Yellow Bhut: Spicegeist
Yellow 7 Pot Primo: Romy 6
UBSC
7 Pot Rennie
Brown Moruga
Butch T
Douglah x Butch T: gnslngr
Yellow Cardi Scorpion: Romy6

I sowed 3 seeds each for these varieties, but expect some no shows. Many of these seeds are almost 10 years old. My grow setup will be two grow tents with 300w Mars Hydro LED lights on the seedlings and as they get bigger they will graduate to 600w Mars Hydros. My main garden this year will be in straw bales, but I may keep a few indoors under lights all season.

The Baccatum and Annuum lists to follow...

I've missed growing and the THP community.

Hey Shane, long time no chat man! Having a hard time deciding where to start  Cali to SC? That's quite the move, how are you liking it compared? I was super happy to find your glog and see you growing still! Kinda cool we both decided this was the year after a few off to throw some seed in the ground   I remember you killing it in Cali and you are most certainly doing the same in SC. Congrats on being a Grandpa that is so awesome! Really liking the new place, you dusted off your growing gloves in a quick hurry! Your twilight zone is really cool.. I have a similar plant growing here I'll try to get around to posting here soon, crazy "off" just like yours. I hate to be this guy but I think "reputable seed sources" doesn't mean what it use to in most cases.. I think there is very few sources that isolate properly or at all, I appreciate the sites like WHP that openly admit that. I figure if its not very clear on the website I assume OPed, I'm okay with that but I do go into knowing that "nots" are gonna be the there and hope for some winners. I do completely understand frustration on others parts though that want exactly what they order, you don't order a chicken sandwich at a restaurant to be served a burger lol.. Your "nots" do look pretty damn cool and I'm interested to hear how the taste/burn is on them! Great to see you out killing the grow game, the pods have me all green with envy, hope it shapes up to be a great season for you.

Also total side note but any word on Matt MGold? I had a PM from him back in 2014 and that was it.. Hope all is well with him, that was a fun year on THP!

All the best, once again, good to see you around

Thanks for all the kind words! I've had some small grows each year, but no grow log. I guess I could blame it on being busy. SC is good so far, time will tell. May be back out in Cali before too long for work, but the family is going to stay here.

I see Matt on Facebook, but haven't seen him on here in a while. I can message him on there to take a peek at his messages on here if you'd like???

Also...he did this review of one of my pods a few years back. I don't know if he is growing anything this year.

Yo, im alive, hahaha. Lots changed over the last few years and back to back moves to "less than hospitable" growing locations kind of sidelined all my growing activities. Shane hit me up on FB, so I figured id pop back in and say hi!

And, damn Shane, i really make some dumb faces when I eat a pepper....hahahaha! Your grow looks great, maybe one of these days when I settle down I can actually get the garden up and running again!

Thanks a lot Shane for hooking that up! It was great to hear from Matt we got some good PM talk goin!!

That pod looked pretty damn brutal! I decided getting back into this that I'm not ever gonna do that again, slices and small chunks for sure but whole pods, I'm all good on the whole think your gonna genuinely die for 5 minutes thing lol. A baby reaper back in the day (last pod I've eaten) on a empty stomach made me come to that conclusion after 5 hours of unimaginable stomach pain later.

Speaking of Cali for work... 48 yo, retirements gotta be near in your future right? I hope so, you deserve it. I totally get the too busy, it sucks but its reality. Being back on here makes me realize how much time I don't have and I'm trying to find ways to micromanage my life that I've never thought of before to make time for this lol.

Thanks again Shane!

Wow, Matt, Shane, and Brandon all on one page!
Just like old times, brothers! Now we just need
Romy6 and Pic1 back in the picture!

Shane, your grow and yard space are beautiful
and immaculate. Looks like the SC weather is
agreeing with the capsicum species!

Yeah man...I still see Jamie on FB but haven't heard from Greg for several years.

They are definitely rocking right now. We had about 6 weeks with almost no rain and now it hasn't stopped for a week and the plants are really loving it right now. Hope to get some pics up soon
Well..maybe just one or two today. I had a nice harvest of Bhut's, Yellow 7s, Chocolate and Yellow Devil's Tongues, Moruga Satan and a few others...but I failed to photograph them. I do have one from last friday...

Your pics are fantastic!  Curious what this plant is?  I am growing something this year that looks just like this but I don't know what the plant is.  I got the seeds from a dried red pod and then this is what I got.  Thanks!

Thanks for the kind words...these ripen from light green...pass through purple to orange and then a bright red. They're an ornamental variety called numex twilight my seed source was New Mexico State University's Chile Pepper Institute.

A few more pics for good measure...

Some fantastic pods coming along, brothah!
Lots of nice color, and some real gnarl on some
of those bumpy Reapers (?)
Thanks! Those are Primos, my Reaper has a few small pods on it, but nothing too awesome just yet. My camera settings got changed and the photos didn't get resized like usual so they all appear gigantic.

Lookin good Shane! How long is your season in SC? You're gonna have some 6 footers in September aren't ya? Space dust is a good one, in my top 10 of go tos   Your primo game is on point, lookin wicked! What are those brown supers out of curiosity?

Thanks Brandon...April 1st to some time in November most likely. It may last longer??? Some years we only get a few frosts. May try to put all my container plants together and cover them on frosty nights to see if I can coax them through the winter. I have several browns going...the two in the most recent post were a Chocolate Bhutlah which is blazing  and Chocolate Devil's tongue which are borderline superhot. I have a "Bhut" that was supposed to be red that went brown in one of my previous posts, Douglahs which aren't coloring up just yet and one Sepia Serpent plant that I got a ripe one off today. The solo brown in the lower left of this picture:

Jals and some runt big jims...the rest of my big jim plants are producing good sized pods.

That's all for now and probably the weekend. I'll be outside cell service areas for the most part.

Thanks for all the great pod porn buddy!

Next Saturday morning I'm off to SC to see my parents. I can't wait for the down time :shh:
You gonna fly out here in your Demon?  Where about? My wife Sheila's 50th birthday and our 25 anniversary are both next week. Be safe on your travels.

Hah! It might get rained on! We're taking the wife's car. It's Hemi Charger, just 375hp, AND, it gets 30 mpg, if I behave. It's a great road warrior when needed ;)

Congrats on both occasions! LB and I hit the 40 year mark in December. Wow, how time flies by.

Mom's the first stop, she's 84 come June 25th. She lives in Murrells Inlet, like 150 yards from the ocean.  Just 4 single rows of houses between the inlet and the beach. Dad lives about 15-20 minutes North in Myrtle Beach, as does my younger brother. LB and I retire sometime between October and January, after that we intend to spend more time with family. Maybe we can hook up one of these days and have a beer, or many :P

Enjoy your up coming family gatherings, and enjoy that new G-kid! I have 5 coming in tomorrow. Gonna be a crazy time as usual. We got them 500 water balloons, so they will trash the house...LOL
