Stickman's 2014 Glog- That's all folks!

Hi All,
I've got Manzanos sprouted and my Bhuts, Lotah Bih and Donne Sali seeds planted so it looks like time to leave 2103 behind and begin to concentrate on 2014. Last year I started some of my late-season varieties right after New Year's Day, but our season was too short to bring the pods to full ripeness so this year I started 2-3 weeks earlier.

There are many more varieties yet to plant in the proper turn, and I have 4 overwintered pepper plants from 2013 that I'll report on later. Have a great weekend all!

+1 Lourens, Rick!

Outstanding grow this season.  You really set the bar for the northern grows, my friend.
I hope you have a good off-season, as short as it is.  We'll be starting long season seeds
here pretty soon (Manzano, Ajis, some wilds) so there isn't much time to relax.   Now to
grind about 50 quarts of dried pods!

See you in your 2015 glog, brother!

Rick sorry to see your season has come to an end......you've given us a vast amount of info through the year.

Enjoy the break , and best of luck next time around in the garden.

Thanks for the good vibe all! It's certainly been a wild ride this season, but I'm satisfied with the outcome.

Man, end of season doesn't mean time to rest for you Rick, Kim-chi, Ajvar, drying peppers (FYI, those PeriPeris look great!), baking, whew I'm getting worn out just reading about it all :)

Looks like it was a great season, did I miss your fall onion harvest? Looking forward to second season here and getting the new Spring season going and following all the Glogs

Have a great week

In the end, the white onions didn't do much Bill... I think they got smothered by the carrot tops. The Cippolini did much better, but they're still in the ground. I've been too busy to pull them out, but thanks for the reminder... I'll get to them when the sun comes out again to dry them.

I got my sauce in the mail late last week from stickman's giveaway, i went with the blueberry-smoked chocolate habenero and tried it on several things (and by itself for that matter) and i would just like to say the sauce is amazing. I am no sauce reviewer by any means but the first thing that hits you is the smokiness, then a hint of sweet, and then the heat.  It is not super hot but it has a nice burn.  Very complex tasting and was outstanding on an omelet i made.  And another thank you to stickman for the offer, this really is a great sauce.

Glad you liked the sauce guy. :)  I wanted to try a sort of New England meets the Caribbean sorta thing. Good luck with your own sauce-making efforts!

Thanks Rick, good luck to your grow next year.

Thanks guys! :)

It's been a few days and the Manzano looks like it's doing OK. I just need to set up the automatic watering device (plant nanny) and it'll be set to OW.

Time to shift my focus to the kitchen now that the harvest is over. If anyone's interested, I'll probably be here... http://thehotpepper.com/topic/34953-harvest-cooking-with-stickman/

Thanks for following, and when I  get around to it later today, I'll post links to the season's highlights. Cheers!

Got the OW Manzano set up with a "plant nanny" for watering, and it looks like this...

It's just an unglazed terra cotta spike that you push into the soil next to the plant, then upend a 750ml wine bottle full of water into it... the water slowly perks through the unglazed ceramic at root level and leaves the soil surface dry, so no fungus gnats. I used these with my OW plants last winter and I was charmed. :)  They're very affordable too.

Have a good weekend all!

Looks like a great idea. I would imagine it has a seal inside?

Nope... I'm not sure why, but it doesn't seem to need one.  One 750ml wine bottle seems to last 3-4 days depending on how dry the air is where you have the plant.
