The Hot Rod Serrano X maui purple you sent me are starting to pop. Though i'm confused because I wrote on the pot that I sowed 4 seeds and looks like there's 5-6 coming up.

cool thanks for posting. The hr serrano was a huge yielder with awesome flavor last year, lets hope it carries on in these seeds. Cheers

Looks like you sent me 6 seeds of it looking back at a pic I took so I must have misquoted when I wrote it on the pot. So that's a 100% germ rate on those. Hopefully one or two turn purpleish
I know it's only f1 but is there any traits your specifically looking for? I can assume mottled or purple based on the pollen choice?

Good news on germ rate thanks for posting. I'm going to plant the rest of the seeds I have looking for purple plants. In my mind I would like a dark purple plant with big fat serranos with excellent flavor that ripen to red. But I'll take anything cool :) purple Serrano with pods that point up would also be cool. F2 should be interesting. The hot rod was a f1 and later pods seemed more jalapeño like. If you don't get any purple plants I won't feel bad if you scrap them. Cheers

Good news and bad news.

The bad news all 50 or so of my cap 521 x pink tiger seeds were no good. They would sprout out a tap root and fail to go any further, so no purple frutescens for me this season, oh well.

The good news my little bonchi caramel moruga plant is putting out some nice new growth after warming up and getting good light. I've had it on the windowsill since October but moved it into my pepper germination tent about a week ago. seed started last July.

Sorry for the bad news.
Caramel moruga is a great plant.
This year do you have OW?
Thanks but no worries. A purple frutescens would have been cool, maybe next year. I did just start seeds of the Rasta frutegum which is a Cabai Burung Ungu (frutescens) x Bubblegum 7 pot (chinense)  cross so hopefully I get some plants from those seeds with a bleeding calyx.

Caramel moruga is one of my all time favorites, I've been working on stabilizing the strain I have as it has a true amazing caramel color, that stays caramel even when fully ripe.

I have a few rocoto clones, the one caramel moruga plant and a few yellow bubblegum 7 plants that I started same time as the caramel moruga back in july. They haven't been outdoors yet, but should all be monsters this year.

Looks like there's some hints of purple in there.. or it's high mag from watering .. but i'm being optimistic

That made it move a little^^^ :P  The pic reminds me of the maui purple seedlings from last year when they first started out. Great news, fingers crossed. thank you sir for posting

Really comprehensive list. Looking forward to seeing all the color and variety this summer!
Thank you sir, all the best to you in 2016.

Hey, Devan - looks like your season is getting off on the right foot!

Your bonchi Moruga is awesome.  I have a 5th year Fatali bonchi that has
been in the kitchen window all winter.  Can't wait for it to get some real sun.

Good luck going forward...

Seed germination update - Rasta FruteGum, Aji Rosita Red, my Rocopica x Rocoto Lima market # 1 cross have all joined the Ulupica XL on this side of the dirt. I have only started a handful of seeds so far basically just the ones I know will take a really long time to mature. Most of everything else will be started on march 1st.
