well technically its an aftercooler, as it cools the air AFTER it has passed into the manifold, where as intercoolers cool the air "inline" before the manifold
but yea, even so, cooling the heat exchanger would be minimal in gains as opposed to a straight shot into each runner
and with my ECU, I have 3 tiers of nitrous control, with a bunch of safeguards I can enable, so its not that big of an issue
