food The Pescetarian

Essegi I should clarify that the whole pescetarian 'thang is less about being a diet and more about a lifestyle.

For me it was more of a natural evolution that was rather easy. Other folks would find it very difficult.

My dear sweet wife for example, I don't reckon she'll ever give up her addiction to fast food junk.

I'm surprised she hasn't bought stock in Taco Bell.
Ok, i could never be a pescetarian, cannot resist to grilled meat! :D

TB, you're on the right track avoiding the processed foods like fake bacon. All that stuff tricks people into thinking it's healthy. No-meat does not equate to healthy, those are still processed foods, and most are loaded with crapola. Take MorningStar fake bacon:

EGG WHITES, SOYBEAN OIL WITH TBHQ FOR FRESHNESS, TEXTURED SOY PROTEIN CONCENTRATE, MODIFIED CORN STARCH, WHEAT GLUTEN, HYDROLYZED VEGETABLE PROTEIN (CORN GLUTEN, WHEAT GLUTEN, SOY), CONTAINS TWO PERCENT OR LESS OF GLYCERIN, SALT, SOY PROTEIN ISOLATE, SODIUM CITRATE, SODIUM PHOSPHATE, SUGAR, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS FROM NON-MEAT SOURCES, TORULA YEAST, CARAMEL COLOR, MONOCALCIUM PHOSPHATE, SODIUM TRIPOLYPHOSPHATE, NATURAL SMOKE FLAVOR, MALIC ACID, GUAR GUM, YEAST EXTRACT, LOCUST BEAN AND GUAR GUM, SODIUM SULFITE, CARRAGEENAN, RED #3, DISODIUM INOSINATE, DISODIUM GUANYLATE, NIACINAMIDE, IRON [FERROUS SULFATE], AUTOLYZED YEAST EXTRACT, NONFAT DRY MILK, YELLOW #6, VITAMIN B1 [THIAMIN MONONITRATE], VITAMIN B6 [PYRIDOXINE HYDROCHLORIDE], VITAMIN B2 [RIBOFLAVIN], CITRIC ACID, CYANOCOBALAMIN.

Okay there are a couple good brands but most are not. A bunch of words you can't pronounce and artificial colors and flavors. So how the hell is that better than real bacon, the good stuff, from your butcher? And how is that different than Jimmy Dean or other processed foods? Just the meat. That's all.

Don't be fooled. Stay away from the processed foods. You're doing it right. Fresh fish, fresh veg... label watching.

You want a veggie burger? Don't buy a processed one, make one.

Grill a cleaned (ribs) portobella cap brushed with olive oil. Put it in the food processor with roasted garlic, 1 cup cooked red quinoa, 1/2 can black beans, fresh jalapenos, 2 eggs, and a tablespoon of breadcrumbs. Pulse until a paste. Make patties. Season with S&P. Fry with a small amount of oil in the CI.

Lol, i didn't even knew what quinoa is, i've read that 2013 is the "International Year of Quinoa".
Looks good anyway!  ;) Raisins should be good in the mix and round tastes!

Even as a meat eater, I like quinoa. It has a good flavor and texture and it gives those weirdo vegetarians another source of protein which is something you can't get from rice or cous cous.

Building on the bosses veggie patty recipe, we cook these up every once in a while. very tasty, even the kids eat them,  and the resident weirdo vegetarian (my wife) loves them.

Black bean cakes.

I reckon I'ma turn my leftover quinwha into some sort of patty or cake as per THP's suggestion.

The black bean cakes look pretty dang guud too!

I was gonna say TB that stuff in the pan looks like burger makins. The red quinoa patty makes the best veg burger. Let's see how you pimp it out!

Raisins are a great addition.  Love the balance.

My wife likes when I do a similar slant on your recipe but with cous cous and golden raisins.  I will def try this with some quinoa.  In fact I have a bag in the pantry right now.

Alrighty then all you hippy lovers!

What in the hell do you do with leftover quinoa?

Get yer' bad 'sef some mini portabellas, drizzle some olive oil on 'em and season with kosher salt. Then throw 'em into the oven @350 for 5 minutes.

Yank 'em out and then stuff 'em with the queen wha? and tho' em back in for another 5 minutes.

Put some pepper jack scheeze on 'em the last 2 minutes and while its melting, slice up some onion, tomato, and toast some 100% wwwhole wwwheat slider bunz.

Splooge on some jjjjjalapeno rrrrranch too.

Sloppy out the ying yang but whoa dad! That was dang tasty!
