I have made, and collected, a number of crosses this year and already planted out my winter grow, so I've decided to try to start a seed train with the extras of some of these crosses.
So for all you mad scientists that want to share any of your ongoing genetic experiments or plant out a few F1, F2, F3.... of someone else's please jump on this train.
I'm going to start I'll be sending out a box to the first person next Friday, and I'd like to get the train back once before the spring so I'll jump in in the 10th position.
I'll also hold position 1 and 11, as well as 2 and 12 reserved for anyone that can contribute 5 or more to the train to get it going. That way large contributors can get it early then get it again later after its been around a bit. Just let me know if you can make a larger contribution in your post and i'll put you in one of these spots, otherwise you will go in the lowest available other spot.
I have a couple "railcars" on the train please try to place your seeds in an appropriate railcar and provide short descriptions as best you can.
Railcars are marked:
"Unstable"
-New F1 crosses and F2+ that have not yielded the same phenotype in consecutive grows yet
-Put your experiments here with a description of the phenotype you are selecting for or would like to select for
"Mostly Stable"
-for new types that are around the F4+ and have yielded similar phenotypes for 2 consecutive grows
-Put anything that has looked generally the same for 2 grows here with a description of the phenotype you are selecting for or would like to select for
"New/Rare and Stable"
- Types that are generally uncirculated or rare but are stable to phenotype
-Anything that is not yet widely circulated, this may include a new type you developed and has yielded the same phenotype for more than 2 grows or a variant that is not widely circulted. Please include a brief description of phenotype.
"Stable Strains"
-Anything that is otherwise already circulating in the hobby
-All other seeds go here, please include name
Rules/Expectations as follows:
1) You must add at least one cross to the train.
2) Do your best to add more than you take.
3) get the address of the next person by pm prior to receiving the train
4) get the train back in the mail no more than 2 days after you get it.
5)Enjoy growing the peppers.
6) Must be in USA sorry I don't want to deal with customs, but if an international member wants in on this I will include you by proxy when it gets back to me on the 10th stop. That is you should send me your contributed seeds and I will send you a seed list and then the seeds you want.
7) Feel free to add any seed strains you want including pure strains but lets keep a strong focus on crosses/unstables and experiments.
