contest Throwdown Smacktalk

Hmmmmmmmmmmm what to have on the side of the burger? I don't think you really can have much on the side, I mean it would be sacrilege to have anything but the traditional chips.

WHAT? I don't think I heard (read) that. And you claim to have been looking at past throwdown threads?!?

Joey ain't got no game!

LOL I am just stuck in my ways when it comes to a few dishes, dunno why maybe I'm a little OCD. and yes when you can't cook you don't have much game  but I'm learning.

When I say side I do mean on the same plate.

ya gotta look at the entree to make the sides.

If you're serving a fish burger, then cole slaw
If you're serving a pork burger, then beans
If you're serving a 'Roo burger, then sauteed grubs
If you're serving a turkey burger, then cranberries
If you're serving a 'gator burger, then okra

It all has to F~L~O~W~~~~~~

For me it's

If you're serving a fish burger, Hot Chips
If you're serving a pork burger, Hot Chips
If you're serving a 'Roo burger, then sauteed grubs & Hot Chips
If you're serving a turkey burger, Hot Chips
If you're serving a 'croc burger, Hot Chips n left over tourist

So, you do have game! Since you stated you're doing 'Roo, we'll be expecting those sauteed grubs in your pics! :)

PS - the first pack of ostrich is finally thawed, so we'll be giving it a go tomorrow for din-din. Starting out simple to just get the flavor of the meat.
Interesting factoid for those who are (like me, formerly) uninformed: ostrich is actually considered a red meat, not a poultry. What's more, it's so freakin' red, it makes beef look pink!

COOL! Lots of pics please!

Because despite all the talk, we really are curious about new foods and how they're cooked, etc.

Any chance you could actually do a side-by-side picture of ostrich and beef? We're still in the discussion phase of the throwdown so at this point we're still sharing.

Although we do have this little problem of newbies-v-veterans.......;)

Ostrich hey, Hmmmm Maybe I should see if my wife wants to do Emu and have a big bird bbq bake-off.

Oooh Salsalady I saw you get your a$$ whooped by that Choccy Bhut....It looked real painful, good thing you had ice cream near by.

yup, that one put the hurt on like no others had done. It's just weird that all I could say was "OW!"

And while I was eating the first scoop of ice cream, I was thinking I really wanted an ice cube, the half melted ice cream just wasn't cutting it.

Thats scary stuff, well I am not gonna put on of those in my burger any time soon then. I am trying to decide what other hot sauce to buy from Neil to test on my burger. I may grind up some of my dried naga's and make a powder too. I think Texas B has the right idea with that.

You need to get his NagaSav Joey, that stuff is great. But sorry to tell you, you won't be winning any throwdown using someone else's sauce. ;)

JoeyK, if you're going the 'Roo option may I suggest some flavours to go with it. Damper bun(make it yourself), Bush tomato chutney(supermarket) and mebbe some good 'ol Tassie cheese of choice. I'd go Brie on this. Go for it mate, don't let the ribbing from the Septics get you down. You don't have to suck up to win, just be yourself.

That's advice you can take to the bank, Joey. ;)

DTS knows his stuff! Official reviewer AND two crowns under his belt....
