contest Throwdown Smacktalk

I'm making a burger with something you can find in any grocery store. However, I have NEVER seen it made into a burger before.

We need to get Pippy in on this one.

If nobody knows what the alternate protein tastes like it's probably not going to get many votes. It's not "think of the craziest meat" burger, it's the best non-beef burger. Just giving you guys a tip, so you're not on the internet trying to buy iguana. ;)

Of course, you can do whatever you want!

Let the noobs fall on their swords. We all did the first time, minus FD, who is a fluke.

First rule of poker: Don't show your cards.
Second rule of poker: When it is time to show your cards, lay them down ... one ... at ... a ... time.

Well I almost got suckered into it myself, I was looking for yak meat so I could make a Big Yak. I found some for about 7 bucks for 3 patties. Then I said to myself... okay, catchy name, Big Yak, but how the hell am I gonna get votes for yak?!

I still think it's ingenious. I was gonna do the 2 patties and 3 bread style, pickles, onions, and all and kick it up. :mouthonfire:

Someone do this I dare you.

{shaking the head} See what us newbs have to live up to? It's kind of sad, that stepping up is actually stepping down..... I personally would be impressed if you used Yak. Might even give you my "respect the yak" vote. Man up, dude!

Probably tastes like chicken. (NOT!) My son, who is anti-try-anything-he-hasn't-eaten-before, ate his required bite of ostrich (I'm mean that way, you know), and said "Hey! It tastes just like ___" Yep. Sho nuf does!

It's not about stepping down it's about strategy.

Still coming up with mine. The Big Yak was just a brainstorm.

Geeme, I hear fresh cracked black pepper goes great with ostrich
Funny that you would say that. I decided to clean out my kitchen cabinets today, and found a single tiny packet of black pepper way in the back. God only knows how long it's been there, or where it came from. It's now out by the curb, to be taken away tomorrow to where it belongs.

But yes, if black pepper doesn't smell like a dirty diaper pail to you (as it really does to me), you would probably love it with ostrich. If ostrich wasn't so gosh-darned expensive here (almost $9/pound) and inconvenient to purchase (can't buy it retail at the local grocer in my area), I'd probably make it part of my regular diet. It's definitely on my "special occassion" list now. Seriously, if you haven't tried it before, it's really that good.

I don't know if it's the same in the USA but having a big Yak or Yack in Aussie means to have a massive spew.

I'm sure that's what happens after you eat it

Good call. Glad I didn't do it.

Just a little curious here. But also patient. You'll have to tell us if you stuck with your idea for the throwdown or not.
