Tips for a laid-up 2, nearly 3 year old.

He has been at his mothers place until now. I have him for the next two days though.
This is how i like him, asleep!

Turns out that he will get a full cast on thursday, they wanted to wait until any swelling went down.

I knew a kid like that-Caleb. soon as they let him come back to preschool he was back in the game, you coudlnt hardly stop the kid even with a cast!

He had more adventures- before the leg cast, he bumped his head on the wall- parents to him to ER just in case- the goose-egg swelled on the inside. Good thing they went to the ER!. just about the time his hair grew back over the scar, he sailed over his little red wagon when it hit a rock, got an amazing abrasion straight down his face. I'm surprised the parents didnt lock the poor kid up, I am sure they had social workers visiting them all the time- there were tons of witnesses. Caleb was just fearless- and accident prone. As far as I know, he did grow up!

Love and pampering will heal Thomas best, daddy. lots of hugs!

Well, he's going to be the cool kid now when he gets his cast on, that's for sure- he'll get to tell all sorts of stories about how it happened.

Celeste is right, lots of tempera paint and butcher paper! And while he may not be able to or want to read, you can (at least I assume so). Get some children's books and read to him. Narnia, James and the Giant Peach, Eragon, and of course J.R.R Tolkien.

Sorry to hear about your son. I hope he makes a speedy recovery. A lot of good ideas here with crafts, coloring, read him some books, some tv and games. I think switching it up is probably the most important to keep him from getting bored and restless.

I have a 2 year old as well, so I know the trouble with keeping them in one place. Everyday when I get home from work, she wants to literally run around the neighborhood, about a mile, at 2. My 8 year old has to stop several times to rest and she just keeps going. It is amazing how much energy they possess. And forget about the nap, it just doesn't happen. Not since she was about 15 months old.

Good luck!

He is thanks PI, with his full cast he is able to get around good and the doc's say that is fine for him to do.
