Tolemans NFT Hydro

So I have been asking a few hydro questions so I thought I would show you how I am getting on.

Nutrients - General Hydroponics 3 part
Light - 250w envirolite blue spec.

They went in on the 25th of April (2 weeks tomorrow) and I made the mistake of putting jiffys into rockwool and straight into the system without the rockwool sprouting.

Since then about a week ago I carefully split the rockwool and they are in there without now and doing better. They are just in their jiffys and have a side of a rockwool cube propping them.

Hi there Millworkman.

Yes they were sown into peat pellets then potted on into compost in 6cm pots.

It wasn't till a few weeks ago I decided to get this NFT so I picked two of my most advanced small plants and put them in. I removed them from the 6cm pots and washed all the compost off to expose the roots.

The roots have started going mad and both plants have minuscule buds on - although I may pick them off.

I hope he doesn't mind me using his picture but this is a 7 pot, scorpion and white hab in an nft under an 250w hid light - 2 meters tall!

Nice dyson. You know, those things never lose suction!

Seriously, your plants are looking really great. Nice and green. Now to get them up to the 2m size of the 7 Pot!

As you can see they seem to be growing well now. The light is around 7" above them with a fan blowing cool air between plants and light. This also helps to blow warm air across them when the heater is on at night.

I thought that but im sure they will have growth spurt soon. They are growing quick compared to the soil plants. It could be I started nutrients weak as I didn't have an ec meter.

Light is 14,000 lumen
Ec is 1.4
Ph 6

Once the roots get going a bit more maybe they will grow a bit faster. If you look at pictures a few days apart you can clearly see good leaf growth. Maybe not as good as MH or HPS growth.

Strange things have happened -

EC went up to 1.5 last night and dropped back to 1.4 this morning. Seems they were taking mostly water yesterday then 0.1 of nutrients last night.

Ec of my tap water 0.78!

Chris

Not sure why Omri - Since saturday I have switched to 2/3 rain water so now my starting value is 0.3ec down from almost 0.8 so hopefully should see a difference.

There are so many factors with hydro so once i get my head around everything my next grow may be faster.

Should have given you a morning picture as they look much better.

Chris

Also is the twisting (corkscrewing) of leaves from over feeding or just how trinidad or chinense varieties grow?

Pictures dont do justice how big they really are. They are roughly 3' squared.

We are currently having a bit of a heatwave here 90F+ and im getting a fair bit of flower drop as the greenhouse gets to 104f ish. Im having to top up 3 - 4 litres of water per day and 3 - 4ml of each 3 of my nutrients. I try to keep ec to about one but it drops to 0.7 by the end of the day. Using rain water (e.c 0.09).

That's freaking brilliant, I love hydroas compared to soil. My wife laughs at me because the plantsi planted in soil are already producing fruit but my hydro ones are still small. It's more like a sience to me, EC, Ph etc, so it's fun whereas the soil grown varieties just need water and good soil and they just grow.

Very nicely done, I have the 125w envirolite, too small I think, had to supplement with extra CFL's, also allowed me to add some red light.

Are there buds on those guys yet, they look sooo healthy, kudos to you
