what is that skirt looking thing called? and is it bad to remove it or just let it fall off naturally?
 
The skirt or flower often helps create the 'tails' in the one variety that I grow, the Butch T. Other T. scorpion varieties often have better 'tails' and are more consistent without the skirt but have other differences too

I take them off of my 'regular' peppers since they hold moisture and I don't want fungus and stuff growing on the pods.

Interesting about them helping tails form... didn't know that, but then I have no scorpions. Yet. ;) Will it do the same on habs? Some of my pods have small tails.
 
The left over flower can really effect the shape of the pods but some varieties more-so than others. I don't think I've never seen this happen on any real habaneros

I think there are as many different strains/pod variations to the Trinidad Scorpion as there are ways to fix shrimp (Forrest Gump reference)

I have a couple of different pod types and even different pod types that are from seed from the same source...I love the "stinger" tail pod type more than any other and I have a couple that almost have the pimpled appearance of the brain strain 7...possible cross I suppose...

I am going to harvest today and will post some pics of the ripe Scorpions (if I have any)

I've got a lot of scorpion pods on but I wish they all looked like this...I love the "stinger"...suppose this is why they call it a scorpion...

YW Josh...hey, check this out...the pic of your unripe scorpion and the ripe scorpion from Potawies archives "cooouuuuuullllllddddd" be the same pod...shaped almost identically...well, within reason... :lol:
