Trippas Organic story of 2012/2013....things could be worse ...

So far my season has gone like this ... goood ... average ... great ... bad .... things are on the up ... and today .... pretty f&^%king annoyed and frustrated ....so many pests ... and the plants are looking much worse then this time last season (when I had no pests to speak of). I had aphids early on during winter ... they were easy to clear off and didn't bother me too much ...

but I have since been having major issues with thrips and broadmites?? (some sort of mite anyway) tiny little buggers which are about the size of a spec of flour (smaller then two spotted or spider mites). So My plants lurch from looking good to looking really terrible and then they bounce back for a while only to be hammered all over again.

Anyway through all of this I am getting some pods to eat so that is a bonus I suppose.

My grow list is as follows

7 pod/pot "Primo" (Junglerain)
Cili Goronong (Junglerain)
Jalapeno "HTM" (Sourced myself)
Prik Luang (Junglerain)
Fatalii (Pepperlover)
Trinidad Seasoning (Pepperlover)
Kerinting (Pepperlover)
Kerinting (Accidental Hybrid Unknown??) (Pepperlover)
2 x Mystery Superhots (1 maybe Trnindad Scorpion "Sunrise"? From Jungle Rain)
Chocolate Bhut (Bonchi)(THSC)
Yellow 7 pot/pod (THSC)
Super Chilli (THSC)
Explosive Ember (THSC)
Trinidad Scorpion Morouga Blend (Junglerain)
Scotch Bonnet TFM (Bonchi)(Junglerain)
Pimenta De Neyde (Soon to be Bonchi)(Junglerain)
Bhut Jolokia 'Assam' (Junglerain)
Bahamian Goat Pepper (Junglerain)
Habanero Chocolate (Bonchi)(Junglerain)
NTR's (THSC)
Douglah 'Alphanerdz strain' (THSC)
Wild Brazil (Pepperlover)
Birdseye HTM (Sourced myself)
Serrano (THSC)
7 Pot (Large) (Pepperlover)
Naga Morich (Pepperlover)
Bonda Ma Jacques (Original seed from THSC but this seed from saved pods from last season)

All of them are strictly organically grown in soil in containers in the limited space of my apartment balcony ...

I am not much of a wordsmith so I usually like to post plenty of pictures of pods (if I have any in the coming months!!) so come and enjoy/share the frustrations of growing in the most pest ridden area in the world :D ... I will post a few photos I shot today later this evening ...

Also thought I would link to my old glog as well just for posterity and self indulgence :) ;) :D

Thought you was going to say Rotorua for a second.

Mezo.

Well that as well :D. No I grew up on the west coast of the North Island mez ... 4-5 hours or so by road from Rotorua although we used to visit my uncle and aunty there quite often.

Man Tripp, those are some GNARLY pods brotha! Those Things look freakin scary! Keep the pics coming...and never again apologize for doubling up on pod pics that amazing!

Cheers Shane!! Yeah they are taking there sweet time to start colouring up so I am still yet to try one of the summer ripened ones (I had an early season one which was freaking hot so I can't imagine what these are going to be like!!)

Phew,,,Auntie did you just fart?

Mezo.

Cheers Gas :D

Well I could have cleaned them up gas but where is the talking point in perfect pod after perfect pod ?? ;) :) ;D nah seriously I kind of like the more organic shots with the flowers still attached etc. Makes things a little more interesting I think!! (well thats my excuse ;) )

Gnarly Bahamian goat peppers you got there Trippa.... They look like they got some fire up in em...

Cheers Portuge!! Surprisingly I did not taste a single one of that batch. I have been picking at least 5-6 off the plant every 4-5 days for the past 3 weeks or so and I still have another flush of ripe ones coming up to sample and then a whole big flush again of green ones coming through still. I tell you if you needed a plant for production that one is it (considering its only in a 9.4 litre (2.5 Gallon) bucket)

I know I'm having a good season because I haven't picked all the dead flowers off the pods... like you do when all you have is three pods in the whole garden :P Now I'm a fan of leaving it to grow on its own.

It also looks cool when the flower constricts the pod into different shapes.

Oh boy.... I meant for the shot. (How many did you have last night? :P)

Yeah, nah, I don't run around the garden ripping off all the dead flower bits either.......

Geez you were up early gas!! I am struggling to get up now and its an hour and 1/4 later. My current work has left me lazy in terms of getting up instead of getting up at 4.30am I can now wait until 6.15am and still make it to work on time ...

Yeah I know what you meant. I was just talking up my own perspective. ;)

Trippa when I first saw the pic it looked like you had held a flame to the pod for a second and singed it. Thought you were getting all pyro artsy in the composed shots.

It's something I would do.... perhaps I've said too much  .
